Red card for Jackson judge
24/05/2005 07:47 - (SA)
Santa Maria - The judge at the Michael Jackson trial on Monday got a red card for letting his cellphone ring during proceedings, and promptly pretended to leave the courtroom in shame.
The laminated card, showing a cellphone with a likeness of Judge Rodney Melville on its screen, is usually handed to journalists whose phones ring during proceedings.
Holders of the card, dubbed "the Red Melville" are barred from the courtroom for several days.
When Melville got his from Bailiff Leslie Avila, he stood up, walked to the door as if to exit the courtroom, and laughed.
