'Googling' all chefs!

San Francisco - Thriving Internet search engine Google is hunting internationally for two talented chefs to crank out haute cuisine for its Silicon Valley workers, company recruiters said on Friday.
Among the perks for Google employees are free meals in the company's onsite cafes, and the veteran chef who pleased their palates quit a couple of months ago to open a restaurant chain.
"As our headquarters grows, so does the need for people who know how to make good food, and plenty of it," said Susan Wojcicki, a Google vice president.
"The search is now on for not one, but two, executive chefs to fuel Googlers."
Google's kitchens serve free breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks to employees known to work such long hours they practically live on premises.
Gallons
Google serves "umpteen meals a day" and goes through 55 gallons of olive oil weekly, according to Wojcicki.
"At our breakfast bar, the chefs turn out two fresh smoothies, or one custom omelette, each minute," Wojcicki wrote. "This is why we are looking for industrial-strength chefs."
A sample menu posted online by Google listed dishes ranging from eggplant ratatouille, pollo en huerto, and pad Thai noodles, to spinach lentil dahl soup and dessert of hazelnut shortcakes with plum compote.
Chefs can submit credentials online, and top contenders will be invited to a "cook-off" judged by a team of Google tasters, company officials said.
"These two chefs will play an important role in managing the company's growing appetites," said Google co-founder Sergey Brin. "We welcome all culinary engineers to try out for our exceptional team."
Gallons
Those more attuned to world dangers than healthy dining can apply for another posted Google position, that of "executive protection specialist".
An ideal specialist candidate will be former military or secret service, adept at "protective driving", counter-surveillance, threat assessment, first-aid, and diplomacy, according to the job description.
Along with free dining, Google workers at the Silicon Valley headquarters have an onsite doctor, car wash and oil change, and a gym staffed with personal trainers, according to the company.
