Los Angeles - Michael Jackson settled a lawsuit with an antique gallery that accused him of not paying part of a nearly $380 000 bill by returning several of the disputed items, attorneys said on Monday.

Kamad Enterprise, which owns Mayfair Gallery, claimed Jackson still owed $128 875 toward $378 875 worth of merchandise he purchased in May, according to Saul Reiss, an attorney for the company.

Jackson agreed to return several items from that sale and a past sale, Reiss said.

Asked if the store would welcome Jackson back as a customer, Reiss replied, "Oh, of course." He said he suspected the entertainer overlooked the payment because he was distracted by his criminal trial.

Jackson, 47, was found not guilty of child molestation in June. Since then he has been travelling, spending much of his time in Bahrain.

Jackson's attorney, Brent Ayscough, confirmed the settlement and said Jackson did not pay the company any money to settle the case.

He said he did not know the exact dollar value of the returned items but that it was "in the neighbourhood" of the disputed amount.

Mayfair Gallery sells mostly 19th-century European furniture. Jackson bought 20 items, including a malachite urn, a Louis XVI-style bust clock, silver bread holder and an "Austrian gold-painted dancing girl", the complaint said.

Reiss said the items Jackson returned included a Chinese chest, a mirror, clocks and a barometer.
