"With the Hansa Powerade Dusi 2008 Canoe Marathon a mere 48 hours away, a thunderstorm accompanied by heavy rainfall in the early hours of Tuesday morning raised concerns again about the water pollution levels of the river Duzi, especially at Camps Drift, the starting point of the race in Pietermaritzburg.
These photos show the heavy water flow as well as waste clinging to shrubs and trees. What the photos cannot show are the E.Coli levels as well as the smell eminating from the river."
