LETTER
'A lunatic runs Iran'
21/04/2006 13:04  - (SA)

Want to know more?
Answerit can help.
  • Iran: China wants diplomacy
  • US, China to co-operate on Iran
  • 'The US has no respect!'
  • Nukes: Put pressure on Israel
  • Iran to up nuke work
  • Iran: Bush keeps nuke option
  • Iran's army ready to retaliate
  • US denies Iran strike plans
  • The letter from Stephan Du Plessis headed 'The US has no respect', is indicative of the chronic naiveté which pervades so much of society today.

Iran is a nation headed by a president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has no respect for anything except a fanatical devotion to Islam, much the same as Palestine. This is not a situation where toys are being thrown because one person is in a sulk with another.

This is a prime example of a terrorist nation, and be assured that Iran, Iraq, Palestine and Libya, to name but a few, are nothing more than that, manufacturing the means to slaughter millions in the name of Allah. What should the rest of the world do?

Proliferation of weapons 'must be stopped'

Should we sit by whilst madmen manufacture these types of weapons and then ask them nicely, pretty please, not to use them? The proliferation of nuclear weapons must be stopped now.

The world does not need any more. The reality is, however, that the US, China, Russia etc will not give up theirs while nations like Iran continue to build, or do we really believe that this enrichment of uranium is just so they can run their light bulbs for less?

In Iran, a lunatic is in charge of the asylum. We cannot afford to believe anything he says insofar as assurances of peaceful motives are concerned. He is without doubt a smiler with a knife and whilst the prospect of conflict is not a happy one, please do not be so naive as to think that it will not be precipitated by Iran, one way or the other.

The Iranian president has a fanatic's agenda and he is clearly intent on pursuing it, whatever the cost to the world. We could leave Iran alone, as Mr Du Plessis suggests, if we could be sure that they would keep their collective fanaticism within their own borders, but, as anyone with half a brain knows, they won't.

So yes, let's stop them now, before it's too late for all of us, and please, let's stop skirting the issues. Fanatics like these are a threat to the safety of all of us, directly, not indirectly.

I have no respect for Bush. I think he's an equal nutcase, but he does not have the suicidal madness of militant Islam driving his actions. For that minor blessing, we should at last be grateful.

    Chris Bennett
