LETTER
Goodbye Mr Blair

  • Dear Editor,

I was saddened to learn that British Prime Minister Tony Blair is stepping down - even though I acknowledge it is a good thing to give others a chance to rule in a democracy.

One thing that does bother me is that Blair is leaving his office without settling the Lancaster agreement with Zimbabwe.

I am informed that the end of this month he will be in Pretoria to meet President Mbeki: our president should unequivocal engage Blair on this issue.

Otherwise Mugabe will continue with the violation of human rights in that country.

Um, Blair has a war to worry about. I'm not saying Zimbabwe isn't as important, but when him and Bush invaded Iraq they set in motion terrible consequences which he thinks he can avoid by stepping down. The man's an idiot! He should be prosecuted once he leaves office and be made to face the angry parents of lost soldiers who fought a war no one believed in. - tweek
