LETTER
Passing the TB test
06/08/2007 14:54  - (SA)

  • Promising new TB vaccine
  • SA testing new TB vaccine
  • TB testing hard to come by
  • Cape Town - Following the publication of the article TB testing hard to come by, News24 was contacted by a Judy Caldwell who requested the contact details of the letter writer, Nick Miles.

We received the following response from Nick Miles:

    Dear News24

I would like to thank you for your assistance in publishing my letter, and for forwarding the response to me.

I did get in touch with Judy Caldwell and she personally came out to meet with me, listened to my frustrations and talk to my staff about theirs. Judy made suggestions and offered valuable advice and assisted in making sure that my staff understood the ramifications of being tested for TB as well as the follow up treatment, and allaying any fears that other staff members had in respect of working with people who were being treated.

Judy personally saw to it that my staff were met by Mr Desmond Dickson of the city health services and were tested at a nearby clinic all together, thus saving valuable downtime in my small business.

It's assuring to know that the people who are involved are actually putting in the effort and making sure that the right message gets across and have the interests of the people at heart. Hopefully the right message will filter down to the people at the cold face.

    Thanks once again,

    Nick Miles,
    Cape Town

just another example of how SA is a reactive country as apposed to a proactive country.. nevertheless im impressed somebody actionally did something, unless the ministry of Health managed to find a way to save on their public relations budget... - mp3's mentor
