Mark Thatcher Attempt #2 17/04/2008 12:37
What is Mugabe getting ready for? Sure, there is no trade embargo going on. But what things the way they are in Zim now, can we even CONSIDER sending mortars and ammunitions there? ANC, do something! - Sinudeity |

how can we... 17/04/2008 12:40
facilitate the delivery of arms to country that is already in crisis mode ? this will only intensify the state of anarchy in Zimbo...
Mbeki and his neanderthals talk abt bringing peace and prosperity to Africa yet they perpetuate the violence by allowing things like this to happen...Mbeki u are truely an idiot that is a disgrace to all that our new democracy epitomises...Be gone u retard ! - Masti |

agree 100% 17/04/2008 12:44
violent crimes are rising and criminals can pull of cash in transit heists.. a freight truck is nothing compared to that.. imagine the criminals get there hands on the load of weapons and ammunition.. where does that put us?? how are the police gonna handle criminals with RPGs and mortars??? i say incinerate the whole lot! - Geko402 |

W.T.F exactly is going on?! 17/04/2008 12:44
I'm totally with you Johann.Red Army troops also reportedly sighted in Mutare. This government of ours has a nasty habit of allying itself with and protecting internationally recognised rogue states, and China is no exception.Mbeki and co.should be ashamed of themselves.I suppose the world will be told that they are only Chinese "peacekeepers" (we all know from Tibet & Tianmen Square just how the Chinese keep the peace). - The Truth |

Transport is not the main issue here! 17/04/2008 12:47
Mugabe's OBVIOUSLY lost the elections, and he refuses to back down. No he's ordered a ship full of weapons. Our government's freely allowing him to ship in these weapons through our country. - HELOOOOOOO!!!?!?!!? IS IT JUST ME OR IS MUGABE PLANNING A BLOODBATH IN ZIM TO KEEP HIM IN POWER!?!?!!?!
If Mbeki wasn't black, people would see him blushing now! - Juan |

Leave them 17/04/2008 12:48
SA will never intervene as we must stay on Bob's good side for reasons only the senior rulers will know. I say leave Zim to do what they must do with these weapons. Their problems are no concern of ours. - Krantz |
|
 |
| |
Arms 17/04/2008 12:49
I can't actually believe that SA is going to allow this. REGARDLESS of how dangerous it is in SA we should take the moral high ground and block the arms reaching Mugabe and his animals. Disgraceful! The US should sink the ship if there is any attempt to transport the weapons. They should be destroyed, we all know what they will be used for. What will SA look like if these weapons get used as a backlash against MDC supporters? Another very sad day for South Africans. - John Camp |

Zim weapons 17/04/2008 12:49
I can only hope that the agreement is reached soon and these weapons are not destined for any political agenda, I really hope that SA gov has all the facts cos it will be so unforgivable for a genocide or anything to that effect to occur just next to us and know that we could have prevented it! - mb |

SO!!! 17/04/2008 13:02

Brothers no matter what ... 17/04/2008 13:03
It is blatantly obvious to everyone in the world that Mugabe lost the election and is now preparing to violently hold onto power.
By supporting Mugabe, even holding hands like schoolchildren on the front page of the newspaper, Mbeki is showing exactly what he is made of. Blind support for anything black, despite the suffering of innocent people, is what Africa is all about. Zuma only makes contradictory statements on Zim in the hope of becoming the next power monger in Africa. SA soon = Zim 2 - Not Surprised At All |

Zimbabwe 17/04/2008 13:06
Firstly Thabo Mbeki is an idiot! An uneducated man can see what is going on in Zimbabwe! Secondly, if these weapons get to ZImbabwe, then God help us in SA as well, war in Zimbabwe means millions more illegals are going to flow across our borders which will result in the virtual collapse of SA as far as I am concerned. We cannot sustain our current population nor handle an increase in the current crime rate??? ANC, Please do something!!! - Angela |
|
 |
| |
Its shocking to know this 17/04/2008 13:07
At yet again who does anything about this ? NO ONE !!And as you say a lot of these weapons are going to end up in SA and will be used to murder inmocent citizens ,, BUT WHATS new TIA ,and thats how africa works..... - bongani |

MBEKI WILL HAVE BLOOD ON HIS HANDS 17/04/2008 13:07
Should SA allow this consignment to reach its destination, Mbeki will be partly responsible for the continuous murder of the opposition supporters but he will no doubt just carry on with this quiet diplomacy. It is high time that Mr Zuma declare a no confidence in Mbeki's capabilities and that elections in our own country take place as well in order that some real action be taken against Mugabe who is no better that Idi Amin and Hitler! - Kobus Hattingh |
|
 |
| |
Arms 17/04/2008 13:07
The Govt will let the arms through as there is no crisis in Zim, quiet diplomacy is working, and no voting irregularities are evident yet. Why shouldnt Zim get weapons if Bob wants them? The Govt cant take a stand now, they may upset the peace! - Birdman |

STARVING 17/04/2008 13:09
THE GOVERNMENT IS BUSY BUYING WAR WEAPONS BUT THE ZIMBOS'RE IN CRISIS BOTH ELECTIONAL RELEASES AND ECONOMICALLY.WHY MUGABE PREPARE FOR WAR, IS HE GOING TO ACCEPT THE OUTCOME OF THE LONG AWAITING RESULTS?I THINK IS USELESS TO VOTE AND SOMEBODY REFUSES WITH THE RESULTS OF YOUR CHOSEN FEW.in zimbabwe only mugabe knows the results,ie he called run off and if he won he should have release long before. - Bethuel |

If Tsvangirai is a puppet of the West... 17/04/2008 13:09
then that must make Mugabe a puppet of the Chinese,if these are the lengths that the Chinese are going to to protect their "investments" in Africa.I hope that this country and the rest of the continent will now wake up and see Red China for what it really is,a huge threat to the democratic and free world. - The Truth |

South Africa Condoning A Civil War? 17/04/2008 13:10
Anyone with an iota of common sense can smell the potential for disaster. MDC supportes are already undergoing threats, assault and even murder. What will happen if that many weapons land up in the country? Mugabe's policy seems to be; "If I can't rule Zimbabwe, then nobody will, even if it means killing everyone!" DO SOMETHING, PATHETIC SA GOVERNMENT OR YOU'LL LOSE THIS CITIZEN TO EMMIGRATION. - TaurusaurusRex |

Arms' destination 17/04/2008 13:10
Your articles bothers on ignorance. What makes you think that those guys are heading to Zimbabwe's Zanu PF. These guns are from British and destined to MDC in order to make Zimbabwe ungovernable. As South African we should be patient and await for the election results from ZEC. Hope President Mugabe will recount the votes until he emerges as a winner. Remember that Morgan has rigged the votes and proclaimed himself as the winner. There is definately no crisis in Zimbabwe. - Calvin Mkhize |

Zim 17/04/2008 13:13

Not on my behalf... 17/04/2008 13:14
This common sense is nonsense. Zimbabwe is a sovereign state that has arm and protect itself. Your imagination is playing tricks on you, ZanuPF is not the law but a ruling party, how can you ass-u-me that it is arming itself; from what? - Toto |
|
 |
| |
For sure 17/04/2008 13:17
I for one say throw the darn stuff in the ocean because it might be heading for Zimbabwe but it will be killing your mother or father, brother of sister or even children in South Africa sooner or later. I cant see how our they can still be waiting for an OK really, is the big heads really that stupid or do they want South Africa to turn out like Zimbabwe in 2 years time??? - mmpho |

Mugabe up to no good 17/04/2008 13:19
With election results not being confirmed, how can Thabo allow these weapons and ammo to go to Zim. Sounds to me like Thabo is forming an aliance with Bob so that Bob, can forcefully take over Zim. You have lost my vote a long time ago Thabo, maybe you should book your place in Zim soon! - Moria |
|

CALVIN MKIZE'S COMMENT 17/04/2008 13:20
What are you on brother? Why not then argue that it might be for the third force in SA or that the AWB plans to arise again trying to topple the SA Government to make Terreblance the next President? Only thing you are right about is that there is no Crisis in ZIm, they are now past that stage! - Kobus Hattingh |

Red Army 17/04/2008 13:22
After writing this, I found some other interesting reads on a Zim based site. Apparently the meeting of Chinese Militants and Zim Generals was witnessed at the Holiday Inn in Mutare. We all know that even Thabo has been talking to the Chinese for a while now. I think that these guys have not idea of what the Chinese are capable of. The hell they can unleash will make colonization look like a Sunday picnic. We worry about human rights? These words do not exist in the Chinese vocabulary - Johann |

Calvin Mkhize?!!! 17/04/2008 13:23
Are you from our Solar System or from one of the outlying galaxies? It's a CHINESE ship you idiot, laden with CHINESE arms and ammo! You are actually condoning and supporting vote rigging?! Or does Mbeki also want to give our country away to the low life, lazy thieves....a disgrace for any AFRICAN (black or white) - Sipho N |
|
 |
| |
No, no, let them go! 17/04/2008 13:29
We should let these weapons and munitions thru no matter what. You see a bloodbath in Zim will reduce the numbers to feed and amount of illegals crossing over to neighbouring states. The populace clearly don't want to get rid of Uncle Bob and as TM has said "Crisis? What crisis?" So let them thru... Pleeeeeeze! - gatvas |
|

Let The Arms Through SA! 17/04/2008 13:29
What's wrong with letting the arms through SA? We (SA) are friends with dubious characters like Castro and Gaddafi so, so why discriminate against the likeable Uncle Bob? After all, there's no crisis in Zim, hey?! Let's have no double standards now. - Cynical |

Get a life.. oh, and a conscience.

Can we not do a trade with Zim - Guns for election results? This is getting to the point of absurdity. And Calvin Mkhize, shut your pie-hole. Go to school, get at least your Sub A, and then maybe you wouldnt talk so much crap. Oh, and take your communist comrade Kolobe with you. All you guys ever do is spew racist/idiotic drivel. Zim Arms 17/04/2008 13:41
Zimbabweans led by Morgan Tsvangirai; are becoming an irritating sight on the newsreels of the world; with all this mourning about "the international community that, Mbeki this, SADC that..."
The Mugabe regime, as well as other Liberation movements in Africa, including the ANC, started their struggle with negotiations and meetings and conferences, but it all did not work. Smith did not listen in Rhodesia; neither did the Nationalist Party. It took ZANLA and ZIPRA in Zimbabwe to go out and wag

Sarcasm Reflects Only Stupidity 17/04/2008 13:56
So stop being all you sarcastic smartasses. The Chinese manufactured weapons and shipped them aboard the An Yue Jiang. SA needs to take action or it will fail at it's duty to support the citizens of a decimated country. - TaurusaurusRex |

Now we see through a glass darkly 17/04/2008 14:01
The SADC says it was all transparent. Then why hide the ballot boxes away from the opposition. The only transparent thing is the ZANU-PF subterfuge and the SA Govt aiding and abetting that! The pity of all this is that innocent people are being brutalised while Grace shops till she drops on Paris and Bob spanks the monkey on the verandah of Government House - and we are provoked into hurling insults all over the ether! - Peter |

I honestly think you only comment so that you can get a rise out of people here. It doesn't matter who the shipment is for - Zimbabwe IS in crises at the moment and NOBODY should get more arms in that country. If they get this shipment, the country might as well be called Rwanda 2 seeing as though the majority probably voted for the MDC and they will be slaughtered! - Estelle |

I don't know whether I am mistaken, but somehow I have always assumed that most contributors to this forum are adults, and that the majority are employed. If this is the case, what really astounds me is that there are people out there who are willing to employ these idiots.(I suppose they could be self-employed, but doing what?) - SF |

Arms to Zimbabwe 17/04/2008 14:06
It seems to e that someone has messed up and the arms delivery os very late. The elections which they are supposed to help Mugabe buy was three weeks ago. Perhaps he has been holding up the results until the arms arrive!!
Anyway S.A. should send the ship away and tell the bastard to get his arms through some other country if they are not brave enough to confiscate them. - Malcolm |

BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS 17/04/2008 14:09
I have never ever been so disgusted by our political leaders as I am today. All the signs and reports are pointing in one direction and even the global community is TELLING MBEKI to do something. May the blood of any slain citizens of ZIMBAB be on the hands of MBEKI. I hope our leaders can sleep after this - LG |

arms to zim...by road ;-) 17/04/2008 14:10
This order seems to be regular in terms of content. State armoury seems to be low... The currant regime will not stand in the shipments way because of its active support for comrade Bob. Please remember that said Bob has over the years succeeded in controlling dissent and has done so without use of rpg's and mortars.... - Ray |

DK - A Chinese AK47? 17/04/2008 14:11
The Zimbabwian government has a right to protects its sovereignty - so of course the weapons must be cleared for transit. Why is it such an issue now? These weapons were probably ordered a long time ago & it is merely coincidenal that they have arrived now. So don't gob off without all the facts! And DK "... Chinees AK47..." - Doh! - saliem |

Weapons 17/04/2008 14:21
After reading a story on news24 where SA government says it will allow this ship to dock and possibly offload shipment, my worry is this, if these containers are gonna be transported by road, how do we know if the trucks will not jacked in Durban of within our borders. If they drive out of SA, how sure are that the very same arms will not cross the border and end up sold in the streets of Joburg for food and then be used against us the law abiding citizens. 100% proudly south african. - general |

I agree Juan 17/04/2008 14:25
Of course Mugabe is planning a bloodbath - there is panic among all the Army and Police force in Zimbabwe because don't forget if the MDC comes into power, there will a truth and reconciliation committee set up and a lot of people will be held liable for war crimes, Mugabe included. That is why he will never relinquish power ... - Peter Black |

NO ARMS 17/04/2008 14:27
Yes I agree. No arms until the election is finalised. With sovereignty comes the responsibility to care for your people. Mugabe's party and cronies have brutalised a nation. Not 1g of grey matter is required to imagine how these weapons are going to be used. To out government, Stand up and be counted now! - Matt |
