LETTER
Div must 'stand up and fight'

  • Bok coach: The truth must out
  • 'They don't want a black coach'
  • Bok coach shocked by sex claims
  • Bok coach in sex allegations
  • Dear Editor,

This is a weekend I'm sure our embattled Bok coach would like to forget.

All the rumours about a sex tape and blackmail is not what our coach needs right now.

Quite frankly I don't think that anyone (other that his family) gives a hoot whom he prefers to "tour" with. I am of the belief that "what goes on tour stays on tour". So for some employee to be blackmailing him seems ridiculous?

What really gets me now though is that Peter de Villiers now says that the whites don't want him in SA rugby, and that he would rather give his coaching position back to them.

What a spineless response. Stand and fight! Rather than balk at the first sign of pressure about your public behaviour, and play the race card.

If you want to curl up and feel sorry for yourself, go ahead - you will soon be forgotten. 'Camel Man'

      sick of the race card
    08/09/2008 11:43
Couldn't agree more - this has nothing to do with race. A white man can be just as easily blackmailed (Does anyone remember Jake White?). I personally don't understand what sex tapes have to do with rugby or the coach's competence to coach at Springbok level. Even if the allegations are true - who cares? - ShRoOm

      I agree with Peter..
    08/09/2008 11:44
..as a 27 year old white man, I agree that the majority of white administrators and rugby supporting public (especially the Flou Bul supporters) dont want Peter Div there! I say, you lot go to hell! From the start Peter was criticised and every win was just made off as luck! Go Peter. Ek ondersteun jou 100%! Bokke Bo!! - jannie

      What if....
    08/09/2008 11:46
it is all true? Should we just accept it as we just except all the KAK happening in SA today? Does the average citizen really have no say anymore? - Big R

      Another racist attack
    08/09/2008 11:47
They must go to Australia. All the victims must up and fight against the malicious and evil racist attacks. - Jabu Pule

      Well he have fought already
    08/09/2008 11:47
I feel i dont think he have done something bad. I support him all the way. That rumor shock and disgusting me. unfortunate he cant fight, he want someone to proof or apologise. I think it true some ppl dont want him cos he is black. but i am white and still support him. come on South african we are Human begin. colour have nothing to do with it. - Didier

      aren't we missing the point?
    08/09/2008 11:48
I think we are all missing the point here. Sex tape aside who was the player that de Villiers was forced to select? To be honest, as put by ShRoOm what he does in his spare time is his problem, however when it effects the team selection then it becomes a problem. Rightly put by de Villiers himself the only people that are really going to suffer are his wife and kids which is not fair! - LPC

      PdV, the great messaia..
    08/09/2008 11:49
You see, if you sell yourself as being inspired by God in team selections, equate your life to Jesus Christ and use bible stories as examples of everyday life, then you must not be surprised if you are being held accountable for what you preach. How the holy have fallen.. - Die griek

      Agree with this letter...
    08/09/2008 11:51
Every time something like this happens it's the whites being racist again, suuuure... He really needs to stand up for himself and stop trying to take the easy way out. If he caves already so easily is he really the person we want coaching the springboks? - Ryan

      Interest
    08/09/2008 11:51
I have no interest in the man's personal life, only his rugby contribution. I dont like it when people have their personal lives (true or not) dragged in to the public domain. That said and done, to resign etc is to make an excuse too. - AJ

      That's what happens...
    08/09/2008 11:51
when one rather arrogantly and foolishly compares your insignificant lot in life to that of a certain Biblical figure and the torture and pain which He had to endure during His short life. The wheel turns. - The Truth

And Yes De Villiers is right!!!
    08/09/2008 11:52
Whites don't want him in SA rugby, his appointment as Head coach has long been criticized by the majority White Rugby support base from the onset & there's lots of evidence to prove that!!This latest rubbishing is just one of an avalanche coming his way & i would advise him to call it quits while he still has pieces of dignity left in him. This SA after all & this kind of racial plottings will just keep emerging on daily basis!! - Les-Maada

      Let's get real here...
    08/09/2008 11:54
I'm a white guy. And I can honestly say that there is an element (particularly up north) that doesn't want a non-white coach taking care of the sport of the Afrikaner culture. So for one I believe Div is justified in saying that there are whites who don't want him to coach. Secondly, how low is it to actually go through surveillance cameras to find some dirt on a guy's doings in the middle of the night? What does that realistically have to do with sport? Smearing idiots. - Joe Soap

This did not happen on tour
    08/09/2008 11:55
The alleged event referred to apparently and allegedly happened in the Eastern Cape (cannot be more specific as the town changes depending on which paper you read) and not on tour. Can understand DIV's frustration. However, this assumes that the Sunday Times managed to get a story correctly, which I doubt (SERIOUSLY) - LvH

      Sorry, I do not agree
    08/09/2008 11:56
Put yourself in his shoes and then we will talk again. For a prominent "white" newspaper to publish these rumours without any proof is disgusting. Read the comments from that paper's readers and you will see that we (whities)do not condone their action. If they had proof they should publish it or the video and not write headlines without evidence. I am totally disgusted by their behaviour. The press in SA is becoming totally irrisponsible I'm afraid to say. - TB

it boils down to one thing!
    08/09/2008 11:56
Morals!! If we cannot set good examples for our children this country is doomed!! In all its facets!! We need good leaders! That's all! - Big R

      Unproven
    08/09/2008 11:57
These all still allegations at this stage and I hope that that is al they remain. If they are true then PDV must go. If they are not true I hope PDV sues whoever started this for every cent they have and every cent they will earn in the future. Jabu this has nothing to do with race. I doubt you are actually a rigby supporter for if you are you will be well aware that at Bok games and provincial games all black players are cheered and supported when palying well.A case in point is Jongi Nokwe/Beast - Charles

      No one cares
    08/09/2008 11:57
I do not think Peter meant what he said, he was just upset about the sex tape allegations. No one gives a damn what he does in his private life, this is not American politics. - Andrew

      What do you expect!
    08/09/2008 11:59
Well i don't think that our coach did that and if so, so what our ANC president is also doing it! I just think it's a plot to cause trouble and scrap him off the chair. - Gugu

I did not know he was black.
    08/09/2008 11:59
Pieter de Villiers (Note the very Afrikaans name and surname) is not black. He is a coloured man, and he should be proud of it, not relinquish his heritage, and throw the "black" card on the table when trouble looms. If there is no truth in the accusations, he must just laugh it off and do his job. Ons is wakker Pieter..is jy? - paul

      What's good for the goose...
    08/09/2008 12:00
We all remember the big song and dance made about Jake White's alleged liason with another woman in Paris last year (by which time his divorce had already almost been finalised). This man De Villiers professes to be a happily married Christian and is also expected to be a role model (as the players are) to the youth of South Africa,so I disagree with your "what goes on tour stays on tour" (actually the "alleged" incident took place in King Williams Town,so he was nowhere near "on tour" either). - The Truth

      @jabu Pule
    08/09/2008 12:01
You seem just like kolobe. Like you said it is a political agenda? Leave politics to the politicians and rather than changing names, change attitude. I agree, if Dev is innocent he must fight back. Sex has nothing to do with it. he must explain that to his family. to just want to give up, is a poor characteristic of a leader. - Get Real

      PDV's easy way out
    08/09/2008 12:02
I understand that some white people do not want a black coach in rugby. However, I do not undestand PDV's response to the allegations of sexual impropiety. It make you wonder why? - Thato

      @ Les-Maada
    08/09/2008 12:03
"Whites don't want him in SA rugby" Dont generalise my friend. Not all whites want him out. - jannie

      Sunday Times Drivel???
    08/09/2008 12:05
I no longer believe everything I read in the Sunday Times...that said - even if these allegations are true...i don't care! I care about his wife and kids...but the fact that it will impact his coaching skills, I highly doubt! Beside...sex tape scandals are the rage right now, ask Paris, Nicole and co - its what got Paris more famous than she would've been! No publicity is bad publicity! - KS

      It IS racist
    08/09/2008 12:05
For how long must PDV fight against the racists? Some SA rugby fans are racists and they think the game belongs to them. If the video exists, 1. why don't they bring it forward and we all see it. 2. Who's problem is it for what PDV does in his private life? This is the continuation of this looong smear campain against PDV because of his color. - Z

      Easy way out
    08/09/2008 12:05
I think that P Div has been presented with an easy way out and is looking to grab it with both hands as the recent results clearly show that he is way out of his depth when it comes to coaching a national senior side and a resignation always looks better on your cv than fired. - Fred

      It IS racist
    08/09/2008 12:06
For how long must PDV fight against the racists? Some SA rugby fans are racists and they think the game belongs to them. If the video exists, 1. why don't they bring it forward and we all see it. 2. Who's problem is it for what PDV does in his private life?       Sex Tape
    08/09/2008 12:06
Bigs Ups!!! Snor on a tape having carnal relations in public? You go, biscuit! - ramone

      Pathetic excuse - Peter PdV
    08/09/2008 12:06
Neither Saru nor Peter Helium initially denied the sex allegations although they denied the blackmail part of it. Did you think why not? Could the stroy be true? I hope not. But the most dissappointing aspect was PdV's later statements that rugby does not want a black coach. Why pull that pathetic defence. It was almost as piss poor as Zuma's blaming things on a 3rd force as if the 3rd force is always whites. - Filemon

      Can somebody please..
    08/09/2008 12:07
..show me the poll which suggests that the Blue Bull supporters doesn't want PdV as coach because he is a non-white person. People must stop with this generelising. From other rugby blogs there are just as many concerned rugby supporters from other regions who are not satisfied with the style of play under PdV. Nothing to do with his coulour. - Spyker

      PDV and the Tape
    08/09/2008 12:07
When one is in the public domain, one must take the rough with the smooth. So what if he actually did do it, HE has to face HIS family if it's true. It has F all to do with rugby. I have my doubts that it happened but I just hope he has a game plan to conquer the allegations and that he showered afterwards, (just in case)! - GeePmb

      If he is innocent...
    08/09/2008 12:08
then he should have nothing to fear and he should fight! - Big R

      He shoul've known
    08/09/2008 12:09
Any high profile position will always have those that are for and against the appointment. Public scrutiny is part of the pay packet. Better watch your back if you aim for those positions - the sharks are out to eat you! - Mark V

      Hypocrisy
    08/09/2008 12:09
All this moralising that PdeV should go if the sex allegation is correct is absolute rubbish. The same people still wanted Jake back after it was proven that he was cheating on his wife with TWO other women. - DavidD

      Who cares anyway
    08/09/2008 12:10
Who cares what he does in his private life, he is human afterall. This is not the USA. So long as he produces the results on the field. Anyway, at this stage, these are only allegations and until this has been fully investigated, we cannot judge PdV. - Shrek

      PDV
    08/09/2008 12:10
I think this a scam, I don't he is involved - but one thing for sure I am fed up with always blaming it on whites. I think that there might besomething from a certain political party because he is not selecting enough players of colour in the team. He was nailed by a certain journalist who is of colour because he selected white players in stead of players of colour. Don't always look for an easy way out. One final remark start choosing the best team instead of what a certain political wants!!!! - Chris

      Agreed
    08/09/2008 12:11
I totally agree. I couldn't care less what he does in his personal life or if he even has one. I care about results and only results. Don't make this about race. Rather than work on excuses maybe we should work on a better game plan. - BigW

      I (and many others) care
    08/09/2008 12:12
Many people suggested that it does not matter what a public person does in his personal life. I do not agree - that's where your character is lived out - I care when I see married men going back on their promises to their wives to remain faithful. And many others do care. How we long for people of integrity to do the right thing in times of pressure and not give into their every whim as if the universe revolves around them. I hope he is innocent and I choose to believe so until proven otherwise. - Whitey

Johann posed this question on a blog
    08/09/2008 12:12
Have you considered even for a second that the white player analogy would also include one Luke Watson? Mmmm, now that would be interesting, considering that his clan tried the same thing under the reign of one Jake White. - Filemon

      Who remembers
    08/09/2008 12:13
Maarkgraaf ...he was also blackmailed etc etc .personally its a storm in a teacup as it makes no difference wether he was noodling some babe or not. He is a rugby coach and that is the way he must be judged as a rugby coach. I also don't think it makes much differance if he was black or white ...if you are Springbok Rugby Coach there always seems to be a line of people waiting stick a few knives in your back - Mikey

      Rugby first???
    08/09/2008 12:13
I have to agree, whatever happens on the rugbyfield is what is important.Unfortunately, being the Springbok Coach is putting yourself in the limelight. That decision was made by PdV.Did he really expect his actions will go unnoticed? He is not performing on-or-off the field(no pun intended). This is just providing more ammunition to those against him.If the Boks won the tri-nations,would we have heard a whisper about the tape? - WHITE SA FAN

      PDV Sex Scandal
    08/09/2008 12:17
Not only are there allogations against PDV, he is hiding a players identity that can reveal the truth and he promised that person a springbok jersey... So that pleyer is not there on merit or quota... Who can that be? - Sleven

      Bill Clinton anyone?
    08/09/2008 12:21
If the tape exists and PdV did have 'sexual relations' in car I fail to see why he should be fired as Bok coach. Bill Clinto led the world 's most powerful nation after having sex with an intern... - VLS

      embarrassing
    08/09/2008 12:22
This whole story is so embarrassing to SA rugby, oh my word! As a former Australian, I feel so sorry for the SA rugby fans out there who just want to see a great sport spectacle on the field and not have to endure this political power-struggle within the governing body! So glad I'm a Wallaby... - David

The person I truly feel sorry for is Mrs.De Villiers
    08/09/2008 12:25
The fans and the media only have to put up with him at his "colourful" press conferences (especially "colourful" after he has coached the Boks to yet another dismal loss). She has to live with him (perhaps not for much longer though after his latest shenanigans). - The Truth

      Public Figure
    08/09/2008 12:27
If it is true that this incident had a influence on team selection then PDV must be discipline by SARU and for that matter be fired. I would not however be suprised if this is another scheme of the Blue Bull Union to get rid of the coach. They already proved with the previous coach that the will use any means to get their way. - Danie

      Let him suffer!
    08/09/2008 12:28
Who does he think he is in the 1st place to compare himself to Christ? Always those supossed Christains who end up with their indiscretions exposed! AND he does not have clue what rugby is all about. Now he stoops down and exposes himself as the biggest racist, and he is not even black! Did he think SA would tolreste a rugby illiterate? - GW

      @TB
    08/09/2008 12:29
The Sunday Times (I assume this is the "white" newspaper you're referring to) didn't dig up this dirt on De Villiers and then publish it "without proof". De Villiers approached the newspaper himself (wonder if he charged a fee for the scoop?) to break the story. Nobody would know about it if De Villiers had not chosen to publish - who knows if there even are any tapes or blackmail threats - De Villiers is the only one who says there are. - GT

      Our Society is so immoral
    08/09/2008 12:32
A sex tape is nothing compared to what is going on. There are bigger scandals to worry about. - Sinudeity

      IT DOES MATTER
    08/09/2008 12:34
Of course this matters if its true. The reason being is that if he cheats on his wife, what's to stop him from being bribed, bribing people etc. Surely if your character is to lie and cheat you carry that into the work place?? - Tim2

      FACT
    08/09/2008 12:34
I for one always said that there was a reason why Frans Steyn, Fourie and Butch was in the team. Now we all know why at least one was. If I was treatened every single day of my existence and had to continuesly justify my action, would I also get to a point when I just say enough is enough. Black professionals within SA always have to continuesly justify ourselves within business and we can never be ourselves, hence some joining the stream and start flowing with. - Angus

      Race Card
    08/09/2008 12:42
Ah and the inevitable "he must stop playing the race card" comes out. Look I don't like his statement more than anyone else, but just who is continually playing the race card? Who reminds us in every article printed in the media that "Peter de Villiers, the first black Bok coach"? Who reminds us blogs and letter sections in newspapers every day that he is merely a 'quota' appointment or 'puppet'? The so-called 'race card' is played much more often by the South African public than it is by DiV - Morne

      Dam Racists...
    08/09/2008 12:43
I'm getting tired of the race card - especially among the commentators! The majority of rugby supporters happen to be white...so if they disagree with the coach (who is black) then it is a race issue??? come on man! YES there are racists out there...but to paint all white rugby supporters with the same brush is a pathetic cop out! If the soccer coach was white, and the supporters didnt agree with his gameplan - is that racist? And what does race have to do with him committing adultery? - KS

      Watson
    08/09/2008 12:44
This whole story has got Cheeky + Luke Watson written all over it. It is the only reason Lukie has been picked above the likes of Wickus van Heerden and co............ They are a disgrace to SA rugby and should be emmigrated to JAPAN. At least Luke might then be able to get over the advantage line since he will be considered "big". - Kaballas

      Viva PdV viva
    08/09/2008 12:44
What most of us like about de Villiers is that he is straight talking. He is not a celebrity used to dealing with public attention. I think he was shocked and angry about the whole thing and spoke from his heart. He was hired for his coaching skills not his sexual prowess. Frankly I don't give a damn what he gets up to off the field, as long as he does not allow himself to be coerced or blackmailed when it comes to matters of rugby. You do have fans PdV, ignore the rest! - cheryl

      Pathetic Bok Coach
    08/09/2008 12:44
Who he chooses to grope in a car park is his business, why he has to turn around and say whites dont want a black coach is beyond me. How many times have we heard that generalising is bad news ie all blacks are thieves etc. Seems fine when generalising about whites though hey? Whats fair for black folk is surely also fair for whities. Sick and tired of this crap. - Stryker

      PdV
    08/09/2008 12:50
This guy is an embarrassment to South Africa and South African Rugby. From his ridiculous pre and post match comments to his BS game plan, he is an absolute joke. His only defense is to blame racism, first the Kiwis and Aussies for calling him a puppet, now the white South Africans, who's next? - JJ

      what a joke
    08/09/2008 12:52
PdV is making a mockery of his Christianity. Yesterday again saying that whilst he is in church this will be in the Newspapers. Arrogant little man getting his nose rubbed in it. Respect can not be bought, it is earned. Nothing to with race. What next. If he wanted to be in the newspapers for something other than being a crap coach mission achieved. Please take the golden handshake and watch the rugby from home. - Robert

      SA is so fickle
    08/09/2008 12:53
What the hell does sex tapes have to do with his performance as a rugby coach? Is he being graded by his sexual tastes or by results. Banana Banana shop and change coaches like yesterdays news and no-one slags them off. Leave Div alone. It's going to take a few games for him to find his feet. - Gary

      Guilty
    08/09/2008 13:03
Why is he presumed to be guilty when all we have are allegations? Hewitt for all love or money have not produced this alleged tape yet, and is set to appear before a disciplinary and DiV is considering sueing for defamation. So why assume DiV is guilty already? - Morne

As LPC said earlier, the more disturbing issue
    08/09/2008 13:05
(if it is true) is the fact that the tape was used to force the selection of one of the players. I really don't care what PdV does outside of his coaching responsibilities and I really feel for his wife and kids. If these allegations turn out to be untrue then the blackmailer should be sued. And if they are true, then that is PdV's issue and should not influence his selection as the rugby coach. I'm just sick to death of racism (and apartheid) being the scapegoat for everything. SICK OF IT - Just

      Lets get real here
    08/09/2008 13:07
Why are we looking at the sex life of our rugby coach and trying to find fault with the poor man that actually brings us victories. Look at our pathetic football team and come up with some digs at them, they deserve all the criticism they get! - Nicole

Same old story - all talk

It seems that there are so idle many threats floating around in the news these days. Being spiteful like a ten-year old saying he would rather give up the job.....boo hoo. Do it then. - Principal

De Villiers has and will not get 100% backing from the white fraternity, my personal opinion, by saying he must "stand up and fight", who is he suppose to stand up and fight against mr camel man? because i seriously doubt if this blackmailing rubbish was fabricated by black people, Rugby is predominantly white and as per transformation quota it is required that our sporting codes represent all races of the country. there is no race card being played here, it's just mere facts,"truth hurt" - Mulondo

Good letter! It made me think of the stupid joke about the old lady that was confronted at the robot by a seemingly homeless, jobless, hopeless man. "Madam, I have not eaten for three days", he said. She checked him over and replied: "nee magtag man, forseer jouself!" Now-now Peter, force yourself, boet! - simon

our comments are not printed as usual, i suspect what happened at the SABC did with other commentators not being able to express the views is now happening here, now and then my comments are not printed, maybe they are offensive, i don't know. - Paul Montele

No I am not talking about the Sunday Times. I did not read their story line. I am commenting on the article in that bastion of blemish free Afrikaners - Rapport - or as it is tongue in cheek called in todays Beeld: The Devils Bible. They never mentioned him approaching them, just published the rumour as headline news. If is was in the Gossip Column on page 15 fair, but a rumour as headline news? - TB

Calm down people, in 2-3 weeks, the Sunday Times will issue an apology. They seem quite good at creating stories out of the blue. - LvH

Peter aint exactly George Clooney ..
    08/09/2008 13:18
so if he did get a bit on the side so what! It's his own business. But we can expect him to play the race card for the rest of his tenure. He is critised on his results like any other Bok coach before him. (As in World champions last in the 3N). He is incredibily niave and judging on some comments he's made he is a bit immature. - John

      Easy way out
    08/09/2008 13:20
It does not say much of his commitment to his work if he threatens to resign over this matter. If its true, then the tape should be shown - but not in public. Thats between him and his wife. I would be more interested to know who this mystery Springbok player is??? PDiv could be from Mars for all I cared - as long as the Boks play like the World Champions they are! - Bee

If you cannot stand the heta, get out of the kitchen...
    08/09/2008 13:25
All PdV predesessors were scrutinised by the public. All of them at some point or another, suffered the consequences of their actions. Remember Markgraaf & his racist comments?? If PdV cannot wither the storm, then he is obviously not fit for this position. Never been a PdV fan, but this sex tape story is low & Sunday Times has become a tabloid with sensationalism in order to sell. Time we all boikot this paper. Is he really so innocent? Anyway, who cares... Sorry for his family tough... - Matrix

If he is not guilty why the fuss ,I know If I am not guilty I will not stand back , for no one , so why are the guys so afraid of proving their innocence ? - Charlie

      READ THE COMMENTS, DIV
    08/09/2008 13:30
I think Div should read these comments and pull back that very popular race card. Its got nothing to do with race, Div. You'll always have supporters and critics no matter what job your in. And remember reporters will always be reporters..looking for an interesting story to make up or twist... If you're mad, be mad at the paparazzi, not the whites. - Philip

If you are associated with the Bok/Protea or any national emblem(whether a player/coach etc), the way you conduct your living should be of morally high standards. SA sports has become such a political playball, and it seems the moral decay is all over. If the tape exists bring it out, if not someone needs to be donnered out of his/her wits!!! Pieter stop making use of the race card, and remember you are innocent until proven guilty. - Thomas

Because our constitution is based on the principle of innocent until proven guilty. If people have the burden of proof for every accusation, then what is stopping every idiot from creating stories and then wait while you waste your resources proving your innocence? I have no doubt that should you be in the same situation, your view would change, as would that of those that suggests your line of thinking - LvH

Red card for the race card
    08/09/2008 13:44
Firstly, the man's private life is his private life, let's leave it there. His got the right to defend or not defend it - in or out of the spotlight as he prefers. On the race card thing - he's wrong and it just shows that he's not ready for the position. On his coaching, we had better, Mallet, Markgraaf, White to name a few. I personally dislike him as coach as I don't see him as a strong enough motivating force. And if I was a Springbok player, I would wonder how welcome white players are - The Prophet

Most of these comments are made by bllong idiots
    08/09/2008 13:48
Amazingly, the fact that a sex tape exists has had commentators more interested in the validity of this claim, rather than the fact that someone had bothered to make the tape in the first place. And to what end? Surely the claim of the communications manager using it to blackmail the coach into selecting a player (Probably Luke Watson) if you read between the lines. Typical of South Africans that the majority of views expressed are more attacking of the victim than the perpetrators. - sabir

      All boils down to...
    08/09/2008 13:50
Not minding your own business. Honestly, he has been SA couch for how long? Not even NEARLY long enough! And already he can not handle the pressure. Whether he had sex or not, his racial statement is what caused this debate. Shame Peter. Shame is all I can say!!! Better pack your bags BRU, even if you manage to stick around, for how long will you be able to keep up in a post that is not even nearly fitted for you? - Strangely Aware

Just ask Chester William how welcome he was as the first black Bok per 1994 - in his book he mentioned how James Dalton attacked him racially about his ability as a rugby player. I also recall Errol Tobyes who played for the Boks in Apartheid SA and was not allowed to share the same dressing rooms as his teammates - how welcome were they made to feel. I am just happy that our black rugby stars are given the opportunity to showcase there talent which otherwise would have been overlooked. - colin

      ALLEGATIONS AGAINST RUGBY COACH
    08/09/2008 14:04
I have read over the weekend the sex allegations against the rugby coach. I just started to feel sorry for him and particularly his family that has to go through this until I read his remarks that put it into a racial issue. At that point I just lost interest and sympathy for him. Does he really think people make these allegations from a racist departure point? I think the poor guy must get rid of the chip on his soldier and get real. - Charlie

      What Div said
    08/09/2008 14:25
As per News24's own reports. He is directly quoted as saying "I knew there were still people who do not want a black coach; I just never knew the extent people would go to discredit me." There is no direct quote from Div in which he makes generalisations about white people in general. - Big Bad Bob

NO coach will ever have 100 % backing from the supporters. To say PdV doesn't have 100% backing from white supporters really doesn't say much. Show me the coach (of ANY sport ANYWHERE in the world) that has 100 % backing - that's right there aren't any. PdV's private life is his own but to say he's being attacked because he's not white, is just pathetic. I backed him, gave him a chance, but his "statement" makes me wonder. - Chantelle
