Cape Town - Jake and the Boks did it! We're the 2007 Rugby World Cup Champions.

Did you think we would always win? Did you have your doubts? Did you think the disallowed try should have stood? Should Jake White stay on as coach? What will you be doing to keep the celebrations going?

Sound off on the game and all the excitement that came afterwards on our comments board.

Congratulations Bokke!

Congratulations to the bokke and Jake - you have just shown the rugby bosses the biggest finger ever!! Well done to all - our rugby bosses have to learn that you can't fire someone everytime you lose a match!! Winners do not happen overnight - it takes time, consistency and perserverance!!
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 8:49:05 AM
Okay, I admit my 55-3 prediction went out the window...I am only human. I would just like to say the Boks played fantastic if you take into account how England continuously slowed the ball down and infringed in the rucks (often not picked up by the referee - or ignored). We as a nation can be proud of our boys.. now let's keep racism and politics out of it and get on with defending our title! WELL DONE BOKS!!!
Greggo 10/22/2007 8:57:01 AM
WELL DONE BOYS!! I only hope that our politicians and administrators can see now that a winning team does more good for nation than a fully representative one and therefore success must be the overiding factor that these people should be concentrating on.
Zingan 10/22/2007 8:58:03 AM
Hmmmmm, I guess he took my advice and went to hang his head real low!!! WELL DONE MY BOYS, we're more than just proud!!!!
Mavis 10/22/2007 8:58:18 AM
I think the video referee made the right decision.Jake did a great job and I think he should stay on as a coach.Congratulations Bokke,u did us proud.
Christina 10/22/2007 8:58:34 AM
Congratulations to Jake and THE TEAM. Well done boys, we are so proud of you. Jake, all you have to do now is to fight for our golden boys and also help us as a nation to keep politics out of this game!
BRUCE BLACK. Perth . Australia 10/22/2007 9:07:32 AM
well done boys ---- you had all us saffers here in Australia backing you all the way. To the S.A.rugby board , it is now very simple: 1) select your international teams on merit -- not racial quotas -- this is infringement on civil liberties / human rights --- i thought the fight against apartheid was to get rid of racial discrimination --- sounds a very two faced policy 2) please do not force all our white players / talent / skills to leave S.A.
Ringomania 10/22/2007 9:13:11 AM
Well done to Jake's & the boyz!As i mentioned that it ws going to b a tight game & it turned out that way, but the men in Green did it!! Tell me has anyone heard from that nagging Proud Englishman this morning??
johnson 10/22/2007 9:19:01 AM
You did us proud & maintained your dignity throughout. Not only did you have charges of racism to overcome, you had to deal with the arrogance of the Poms whose headlines screamed "cheated, try not awarded".It is just very sad that this will probably be the last world cup we ever win if the rugby bosses have their way.How can there be accusations of racism when the whole country black and white was behind the boks.We need more Habbanas and they are out there but the GVT is not providing them.
PRICEY 10/22/2007 9:30:55 AM
Very well done to the Boks! England performed above and beyond all expectations at this WC and at least we came closest to scoring a try which should go some way to rubbishing all the talk of boring rugby. Still the Boks deserved the win, although I'm pleased that SHROOM's 55-3 prediction was way off the mark. See you in NZ in 4 years time!
AS 10/22/2007 9:31:12 AM
I knew from the start we would win. Well done Bokke and Jake White. I wonder where that whining pommie is this morning??? Say, did Johnny whatisname even play on Saturday.... Shame!!
Dsiona 10/22/2007 9:31:22 AM
Congratulations boys - you have made us such a proud nation and we thank you for that! Bring the trophy home!
scorpion 10/22/2007 9:32:16 AM
Well done boys we are proud of you.Just go on holiday all of you, you deserve that rest.
GJM 10/22/2007 9:33:28 AM
The Boks are the best, every single one of them! A brilliant victory for the Boks, and a massive vindication for Jake White's instence all along that in international sport there's only one thing that counts: merit. This should give the rugby bosses with their racist quotas and racist obsessions something to think about. Sport is not about black and white, it's about performance and about WINNING! The Boks did more for the nation than the mischief of the racist politicians. Viva Merit!
Proud Springbok Supporter 10/22/2007 9:34:17 AM
All I can say you did us proud. Unlike Shroom I never though we will win by far but always know we will win. Thanx guys you made us proud (white brown black and every color you can think off). To Englishman please say you are sorry we are waiting patiently. GO BOKKE. We see you in Cape Town next monday.
GAS 10/22/2007 9:34:20 AM
Never a doubt in my mind with this HUGE victory and now it's "Bok Bok staan styf, hoeveel wereld bekers het jy aan jou lyf? Twee Jaaa Twee!" In the end England were present by the luck of the Irish (excuse the punn...) would have been great to have done it against the AB's but it wasn't to be. What a team! What A win!
nana 10/22/2007 9:40:35 AM
Hey, have you seen the Englishmen, Im sure he drowned his sorrows somewhere, It belongs here, and its ours, well done Boys you have made us proud so much, Mayibuye!!!!!!! come back home we waiting
Janice 10/22/2007 9:41:14 AM
Well done our boys, we knew you could do it!! The entire Nation was behind you and you have made us proud.
Amy 10/22/2007 9:43:55 AM
What a great weekend.Well done to the bokke. It was nice to see that only one colour mattered, green...And as the one supporter said, the gold jewellery, the cup.AS
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 9:46:15 AM
Yes I have indeed said (as now many others on this site) that my prediction was way off the mark. What I was alluding to however, was that if England didn't slow the ball down continuously we could potentially have beaten them by about 50. Regardless, it is all speculative and I am just glad the Boks absorbed the pressure and won the game on merit. And to the Sun newspaper in England that insulted Percy..who's laughing now biatch!!! hehe
English 10/22/2007 9:47:25 AM
You guys didnt score a single try on saturday. On friday, there were bok supporters with big mouths saying habana and co were going to run us in circles etc... what happen hmmmmm ??? Never be so arrogant in life - all you got was 5 penalties. Anyway congratulations to Jake and his team!
granny 10/22/2007 9:47:49 AM
To all our boys you realy made a old granny's heart beat very fast on saturday when you beat England. Thank you for a wonderful game.
Willem 10/22/2007 9:50:00 AM
Well done boys! We were all glued to the TV on Sat, all wearing our green and gold - and it was such a proud moment! Lot's of 'manne' with a well hidden tear in their eye when they lifted Thabo Mbeki and held the cup in the air. Once again guys, you did us proud here in East Africa!
John 10/22/2007 9:50:31 AM
BOKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEEEEE!!! Well done John and the boys! Did us more than proud. Lifting that cup as a nation a second time is priceless feeling!!! A game plan well executed. The boks ground out that victory in a style that even allowed England to play their game!!! Pity Habz did not break the record though, but all the same a great tournament by all players - my players of the RWC are Juan Smith, Habana, Percy, B. James. Although it is difficult to single out any one player!
Proud Englishman 10/22/2007 9:51:36 AM
Hi 'ShRoOm', 'Zingan' and 'Ringomania' Congratulations to the Springboks that were the better team. I am here and prouder than ever of being English. So 'ShRoOm' first of all you make a total arse of yourself by hurling insults before the game (55-3, my arse !)and now you question the great game played by England ?. You truly are a very sad person ... I wore my England colours with pride on Saturday and will continue to do so.
GAS 10/22/2007 9:53:57 AM
You clown! England had once chance at getting into the game anf that was to make the game a mess. Your Irish buddy saw to the rest! You Pommies wonder why SA are so abrasive towards you Pommies... Well, your post is a shinning example of why. It's in your dna just like Flood's action on Saturday. You are a sad pathetic bunch of loosers!
Englishman 10/22/2007 9:54:25 AM
Your 55 - 3 prediction clearly shows your stupidity, arrogance and lack of respect for rugby as a whole as well as your hatred to english people. You were going on and on friday about how the boks will slaughter England. The bokke scored 0000000000000000 tries and almost conceded one. I wonder what would have happen had that try been awared, i guess we'll never now hey. Theres nothing wrong with slowing the ball down -just shows how much you actually know about the game. Catch a wake up !!
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 9:54:35 AM
Yes we were arrogant - including myself. Well done to England for competing. Just remember though that we are arrogant because we are passionate about our team - this will not change. Like I said, England played negative rugby and as a result we were forced to adapt our play accordingly - thus no tries. And don't think this is MY opinion only, the guys on RugbyHeaven NZ say the same thing... England force teams to play defensively. Regardless, it was not a good game, but the right team won.
WP 10/22/2007 9:57:17 AM
'English', you are the epitomy of English supporters. In stead of congratulating the Boks from the start for their superb victory, you whine about your sorry ass team and their lack of skills! BTW, what is red and white and goes BEEP BEEP BEEP? The English victory bus reversing back into the garage!!
Shirley 10/22/2007 9:57:35 AM
Morning everyone, WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!! I must say, i dont think it was a fabulous game with great rugby, but such is the RWC final isn't it? Who gives a hoot tho, WE WON IT!!!!! HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAA!
Thenjiwe 10/22/2007 9:58:31 AM
You see, if you care enough to look you'll find there's a lot of Habanna's after-all. And when u find them without having to go to 'war' about it, we'll bag a lot more trophies: Tri-Nations, etc. Well done Mr. White and I wish you'd find more talent to nature and groom and u we'll make you and the nation proud! You obviously know/have what it takes!
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 9:59:45 AM
I did not 'question the great game played by England'. In fact, I congratulated them on competing so well in the final. They played the game that suited them and forced us to play the same. We adapted well, I'm not sure England would have adapted if it was a running game though. As far as I am aware, you were the one that began the insults with your "South Africans are dirty players" remark. Funnily enough, it was England that played more 'dirty' in the final. Well done Boks!!!
anonymous 10/22/2007 9:59:55 AM
John, think you mean England ground out a hard game by not allowing the boks to play their game - i mean many of you were predicting 50+ score haha all you got was 15, lets not forget o tries!!!
Coetzer Deysel 10/22/2007 10:00:58 AM
Boys you made us so proud, thank you! To our goverment that seems hell bent of making us the laughing stock of the rugby world by choosing on race - go ahead, do that. And while you do it, PLEASE RETIRE THE SPRINGBOK, so that the respect the Springboks earned in the past does not get dragged through the mud. Make your new team, and yes, call them the Proteas, because if not chosen on merit, Springboks they will never be.
Teboho Maine 10/22/2007 10:01:44 AM
This was a very outstanding perfomance displayed by BOKKE,the guys showed commitment and never looked back. But mostly I want to give my credits to the man who turned our squad around, the man who took us through all this journey,Mr Jake White big up to you MENEER!
Bob Smith 10/22/2007 10:03:49 AM
First off let me say Well Done and Congratulations. Now to what gets me. To hell with the quota system, the team should consist of the best players, and thats all. Hell I don't care if they are all pink as long as they win, that is why I say to hell with the quota system. This is profesional rubgy you are in it to win, you want to have fun then join a club. Winning is everything and only the best should run out on the field, no damm quota players, only the best. Well done Bokka. Well Done Jake.
PRICEY 10/22/2007 10:04:03 AM
Mate, SHROOM is the worst kind of winner, a bad, ingracious one, which is even worse then being a bad loser, which we aren't. I congratulated him and all Bok supporters on deservedly winning yet he still see's fit to pass base, ignorant remarks which say much about his character (or lack thereof). Fear not, being English is still a wonderful honour, cheers!
Proud Englishman 10/22/2007 10:04:18 AM
'ShRoOm', 'Zingan', 'Ringomania', 'AS', 'Proud Springbok Supporter' and 'nana' ... You won the game, were admittedly the better team, and yet still find cause to pass derogatory comments on the England team ?. And to all of you ... I AM ENGLISH, DAMN PROUD OF IT, AND WIN OR LOSE, WILL ALWAYS SUPPORT ENGLAND. I DEFINETELY HAVE NO REASON TO DROWN MY SORROWS BUT CELEBRATE A HEROIC EFFORT BY AN AWESOME TEAM. Bring on 2011 !.
Cynic 10/22/2007 10:05:37 AM
One wonders how long this rosy hue of wellbeing will last before being replaced by the usual whingeing, complaining, whining, political interference etc. Let us not kid ourselves, it is just round the corner. That is our reality in SA.
Shirley 10/22/2007 10:05:49 AM
And so you should be! I am a Springbok supporter to the core, but we did not outplay England. We won yes, great I am thrilled - the WE Trophy is coming here, but it could have very easily gone the other way. I wish no-one was hurtling insults tho, it wasn't fantastic rugby and both teams actually played kak, just England played more kak than we did - but hey, who gives a HOOT, we won, and England lost, these things happen! Keep supporting your team at least they'll have another chance to win.
GAS 10/22/2007 10:08:04 AM
We've got the win and deservedly so... so I don't really care but?? You English would be proud it's why you are what you are. Flood's push, Moody's little Oscar after running into John, Corey's attempt at playing like McCaw etc etc etc. If you can't win it fairly turn the game into a mess and and play peruvian rugby. Yip that's English rugby!!!!!
Rugby/england fan 10/22/2007 10:08:08 AM
Well done to the boks ,see you 2011
Ndumi 10/22/2007 10:09:21 AM
Not only am I proud of them winning the game, but these men have pride in their nation-they sing the national anthem so proudly which is not what I can say for "bafana bafana(they dont even know the words-maybe that's why they loose so much)" i love you guys-my fiance and I were so touched-we knew then we were winning the world cup!!!!!
Moegamat 10/22/2007 10:11:39 AM
This was the best game i have ever seen both teams defending like their lives depended on it. The BOKKE was the better on the day they were consistent on keeping up the pressure and winning line out and on the technical aspect of the game nothing bad can be said about England but the BOKKE is now and for the next four years the IRB WORLD CHAMPIONS. WELL DONE AMA BOKKE BOKKE WELL DONE.
John 10/22/2007 10:14:37 AM
I applaud ur graciousness in defeat. England also did well to get that far, even after their press tore them to pieces - bunch of sh!ts really! Now the English press is going off about the "contraversial try"... In my opinion not a contreversial try at all - in fact it was not a try, no matter how close. Either you are in, or out... Same thing in cricket for a run-out. Many an important game has been impacted by decisions of the umpire or ref. So really no excuse. They were outplayed...
Reeva Oppert 10/22/2007 10:15:11 AM
Lucky's death is a huge loss and TRAGEDY, but EVERY DEATH in this country caused by the scurge of scum that loiter our streets and suburbs are HUGE TRAGEDY'S. How much longer do we carry on like this?
guts n glory 10/22/2007 10:15:43 AM
If there is one thing worse than Arrogance before the game its lack of Humlity After it.Shroom 50 points was never on, Regardless of how eng 'slowed' the game. Your team, played exactly the same way as eng did.No flare, Kicking ping pong. Yes over the WC you guys deserved it.But dont pretend you played the final any differently. It was hard stuff, not flare. So mistakes won it in the end.Well done to all of TEAM BOKKE.You should be very proud. But Shroom, for godsakes, grow up. NZ 2011 ere we come.
Victor 10/22/2007 10:16:23 AM
Congrats to the Boks! Thanks for the great entertainment and bring back the cup, and for uniting all of us. For giving us a reason to be proud of our country. Lets all keep on standing behind the bokke. Especially with all this quota crap. Or else all our talented players will go look to play somewhere else, and our rugby team wil play as poorly as bafana..........merit, not race!
Jillian 10/22/2007 10:17:50 AM
We won the game just as we said we would. Sure no tries were scored (by either side I might add), but our boys are still returning home with the entire country cheering them on. The English played well, but not as well as our guys, and for this reason they will return to tears instead of cheers :-)
carol 10/22/2007 10:20:08 AM
Congratulations to our boys!! You made us truly proud! To Jake, please stay on as coach(hoping we donnot go the *quota system* way) Well done once again we did it!!!
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 10:20:55 AM
I predict a 55-3 score and I get insulted because of it?? I told you - so let me tell you again in E N G L I S H you might understand... I said I was way off the mark and congratulated your team. Now you call me stupid? Why? Because I congratulated your team???? TO HELL WITH ENGLAND THEN!!!! If you can't take a compliment go drown yourself (and your sorrows) in the Thames. Sore losers the lot of you!
Proud Englishman 10/22/2007 10:21:24 AM
ShRoOm, this comment was made by you : 'infringed in the rucks (often not picked up by the referee - or ignored)' ... and then a couple of posts later you say that you did not question the game played by England ?. I don't need to say anymore ....
Proudly south african 10/22/2007 10:21:52 AM
It was a good feeling to see the amount of patriotizm shown by all South Africans on the day of the final match. To Amobokoboko well done boys you have indeed have shown consistent dedication on this world cup and have made all of us proud of being south africans.
Itu 10/22/2007 10:22:19 AM
I would first like to complement the team management, especially Jake for having such good foresight and a strong vision. Can only look back at peeps that were laughing at the decision to bring Os back?to the players on the field of play?you all did a wonderful job and have brought great joy to the diverse people of this wonderful nation?
Shirley 10/22/2007 10:22:32 AM
People in general who make negative comments and start getting into peoples character make me SICK! Leave the English alone, they played a game and they lost. we played a game and we won, celebrate the fact that for the first time in 12 years SA came together as a nation for a single goal, and together we did it!!! Man you guys, i dunno who needs people like you? SA WON!!! FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS, WE WON SOMETHING!!! DAMMIT!!
SG 10/22/2007 10:25:11 AM
To the boys in green and gold and to the man who held the key... Jake White and the Bokke you've made not only yourselves champions but given us as South Africans something to be really very proud of. Go Bokke!!! SA YOU BEAUTY!!!!!!!!! - SG
Proud Englishman 10/22/2007 10:25:48 AM
Perhaps you two could get together and chat about the game you were watching ... It definetely wasn't the same that everyone else was watching. Just remember to wear your pants on your head whilst you talk out of your ass.
gary from dbn 10/22/2007 10:26:23 AM
Well done boks from the other side of the world. you sould have seen the kiwis today .jaws hanging on the ground...sore looser . they really have taken there early exit and boks win real hard. he he he go bokke ... p.s think you having a bad day ,imagine the poor kiwi who bet 6 million new zealand dollars on the all blacks shame poor guy
Asanda 10/22/2007 10:27:27 AM
Thank you boys for the wonderful work!!!! Can't forget mr White .... You are the champions!!!
PRICEY 10/22/2007 10:27:31 AM
If what you say is true that England made SA play a defensive game, then how come your much vaunted back line couldn't change the game and run it, as you so vehemently professed would be the case before the game?? We are congratulating you on winning so I can't see why you continue with your verbal assault. Even in victory you have an enormous chip on your shoulder. Grow up mate and enjoy what your team have achieved!
Proud South African 10/22/2007 10:27:43 AM
It was good to see the amount of Patriotism shown by all south afriucans on the day of the final match. To Amabokoboko well done! boys you have displayed a true sense of dedication and professionalism throughout the WC it was a victory thas was well derserved. You have made all south africans very proud. To jake I applaud for you dedication you have shown to the boyz, keep up the good work & god bless you
Ian 10/22/2007 10:28:05 AM
Well unfortunately Habana didn't score his ninth try . BUT THE BOKS ARE THE BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD, thx for doing us proud boys, and england better luck next time, well that is if you get a next time hehehehe.... :)
WP 10/22/2007 10:29:53 AM
Come on ShRoOm, no need to be nasty! Proud Englishman cant help it that he supported a losing team, who were totally dominated from the 1st minute! It shows the type of person he is, not man enough to acknowledge that they were outplayed, but instead moping the whole time. And to add insult to injuries, Hamilton failed as well! What a miserable weekend for them, shame.
Werries 10/22/2007 10:30:56 AM
In the pocket my boys. Congrates to England for being great opponents. Made us work for our well deserved victory. Congrats to the Green and Gold. I wonder if England (Like our Governemnt) is also going to blame Apartheid for our victory. HAHA. How am i feeling today? BOKKIN GREAT!!!!
nale' 10/22/2007 10:34:08 AM
Well Done men!!! U did us so proud, Well done to Francois Stey,J Smit,JAKE WHITE, matfield,P Montgomery and to HABANA- Even though u didnt break the Johno's record! U EQUALLED IT & THATS BLOODY GOOD ENOUGH! CONGRATULATIONS - FOR TAKING THE IRB PLAYER U ROCK!!! WELL DONE BOYS!!!! GO BOKKKKKKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! NMM
Mr Pom 10/22/2007 10:35:48 AM
I see everyone is still insulting each other and I find this reasuring and comfortable, at the end of the day the competitive nature of the game is still alive and well. Anyway I thought it was funny that the English team walked past Mbeki wondering who he was and if he was a car park attendant then who was looking after the team bus.
Nicki 10/22/2007 10:37:10 AM
Congrats to the Bokke for bringing the cup home. Lay off the insults and lets concentrate on the results
English 10/22/2007 10:40:34 AM
You getting flack for your your arrogance and stupidity NOT for your prediction dumb0!!! There's absolutely nothing wrong with slowing a game down (there AINT a rule that says you CAN'T) If you knew ALOT about rugby which you obviously DON'T you will acknowledge the sprited fighback from ENGLAND. After our loss to the boks in the pool stage, we written OFF and torn to pieces by the media. Atleast we ackowledge SA's victory - we AINT sore Losers, you a blurry stoopeid ARROGANT fan!
Francois 10/22/2007 10:45:30 AM
The Bokke have shown what a winning team can do for this country. We are united like never before, let`s make the most of this awesome opportunity. Like the Sasol ad said, "the power of a nation". John, Jake and the boys, you have made us proud. Thanks for what you have given this country.
Saffa 10/22/2007 10:48:41 AM
Dear Springbok Camp - thank you for everything, you've done yourselves proud. Dear England Supporters - your team showed guts & character to come back the way they did after a poor start to the tournament - well done. So now what ... will the people screaming for transformation in rugby scream for the same thing regarding Bafana Bafana? Hmmm...
English 10/22/2007 10:49:56 AM
I quote: England played negative rugby and as a result we were forced to adapt our play accordingly - thus no tries. WHAT A LOUSY EXCUSE, did ENGLAND hold a gun to the BOKS head in order for them to play SLOW??? I think NOT!!! You guys were shut down quickly, there were so many instances where 2/3 players tackled 1 bok player... Well done to england for making it to the final! I think England could have played better, perhaps spreading the ball out wide. Congrats to Jake and the boks
zubaydah 10/22/2007 10:54:32 AM
The boks under the guided visionary of Jake White has truly done SA proud. I just pray that the politics stays out of the game because before they speak of quota systems, transformation etc. look at the pathetic state of our Soccer, where is the quota here and with one of our national soccer games the players were talking to each other yet our rugby guys stood and sang with passion on saturday 20.10.07. I say we are 13 years into our Democracy, choose on performance now .
GAS 10/22/2007 10:54:33 AM
Yip, Nicki has it right the positive eliment remains the result. Proud?? Englishman, I read your trash on this site on Friday and stayed away because I was convinced you would be in this position today. No one likes loosing we certainly hate it. I have to ask why though the English have one resort when you loose - Insult after insult after insult? It's like it's in your dna and then we give it back and you get all high and mighty??? See you in 2011 fool!
AS 10/22/2007 10:55:24 AM
If I remember correctly you also passed derogatory comments, about Percy in particular, who, I might add, won the game for us and scored more points than Johnny Wilkinson. You are just as bad a loser as you are accusing all the rest of being. We won - get a grip!
English 10/22/2007 10:56:53 AM
by the way - on friday, there were bok supporters with big mouths saying habana and co were going to run us in circles etc... What happen hmmmm ??? Oh the english slowed the game down so thats why the boks couldnt score tries. What a load of nonsense shRoom
Colleen 10/22/2007 10:57:19 AM
Can't we just be proud of our boys and say well done to England for being great adversaries. It's just as important to be gracious winners as gracious losers. I think each and every one of the Springboks were incredible and I couldn't care if they were white, black, pink or green and that's how I think the majority of South Africans felt on Saturday and still do. If they deserve to be in the team let them be there. They did us all proud and their behaviour was impeccable. Well done boys.
Catherine Harland 10/22/2007 10:58:38 AM
well done Bokke! u all played hard and now deserve a good well need rest :D Jake well done on a super job u really made SA proud! well done again Bokke YEA YEA YEA YEA

They can analise the game as much as they like...the bokke won it AGAIN! To be honest, who cares what happened in those 80 minutes...we won and we are ranked nr1 in the world...Bragging rights for the next 4 years!! We won 2 out of 4 times we participated...compared to NZ/Eng 1/6 and Aus 2/6. Enjoy Bokke!!!
Karel 10/22/2007 11:01:49 AM
We needed to win the cup cause after all the comments by Government and especially Stofile we will never win the world cup again. In celebrating we have also witnessed a tragic death to the Springbok.
Surie 10/22/2007 11:03:27 AM
WELL DONE BOKKE!!! You brought a country together and gave us happiness we have not known in a long time. For one night at least the country put aside issues of race and we all came together to celebrate the GREEN AND GOLD blood that is common in us all. Well Done again Bokke!
Andrew 10/22/2007 11:03:29 AM
Yes we need to create structures for our player base to increase. What these administrators dont understand - and why would they understand merit - is that these Bok players are an elite group of athletes or players. Not everyone is 1.9m / 95kg or more and athletic. And then you're still small. Bakkies/Victor are more than 2m and are literally freaks - we are just blessed to have these guys in SA! Rugby players are just getting bigger, faster and stronger. Unfortunately you inherit your genes!
Jarron 10/22/2007 11:03:58 AM
It seems athat amidst the tide of exhilaration, there are those who are claiming that the RWC "united" us! Ha ha ha that's laughable. We are not united by any stretch of the imagination, which will become very evident as soon as the politicians start with the their racial quota cr*p.

ShRoOm 10/22/2007 11:11:04 AM
Spirited fightback from England? All they did was maul and kick. The only reason why the floodgates didn't open was the referee was blind to their many infringments at the ruck. Yes, there is nothing wrong with slowing the game down - but alas, this does not make for good viewing.
spporter 10/22/2007 11:13:02 AM

Well done to the Springboks, you united a Country for a short while WE thank you. There are no comments in the Record Book, in fact we dont care. At the end We won and that is that.Of course the English should be proud Well done you came SECOND.You should be appologising to the England Team for the way your Press slated them 4 weeks ago, writing them off.Well done once again

ShRoOm 10/22/2007 11:16:38 AM
"instances where 2/3 players tackled 1 bok player" - Are your guys really that bad? By the way, if you had spread the ball once and a while, like you hoped, then the Boks would have potentially smashed you 55-3 like I predicted. Luckily for you negative rugby was the order of the day.
Gerhard 10/22/2007 11:19:00 AM
Whine, whine, whine.......nag, nag, nag.....That was all I saw on Sky News on Sunday, after the Boks beat the English. Going on and on about the disallowed try. Let's say they WERE awarded the try, it could have ended 15-11 in the Springboks favour. And let's say IF they converted the try, we still would have WON 15-13. Oh, and then they ''shifted'' the story to another possible World Championship for them in Formula One. Guess what, Hamilton ALSO came second!!!!! Go Bokke!!!
PRICEY 10/22/2007 11:19:43 AM
Colleen your comment is spot on and one which SHROOM should learn from. Well done and congrats on winning. Signing off until 2011...cheers!
Ivanie 10/22/2007 11:20:38 AM
Winning teams like fiji, tonga, argentinia, england don't make you world champions, that title must be earned playing the top world teams and winning them over a period of time or during a tournament. Springboks aare ONLY tournament champions, nothing more!!!!!!!!!!!
Sonja 10/22/2007 11:21:36 AM
If the Government interferes this will be the last World Cup we won. Rugby will never be the same again. Rugby is not a Politcal Party. How do these people think? Rather start educating young coloured/black/indian boys from a young age. You can't put anyone in a team based on the colour of there skin. It must be on merit, otherwise SA will be a joke to the rest of the world. This is totally rediculous.
ShRoOm vs Englishman 10/22/2007 11:21:40 AM
you are both getting boring now!
ZS 10/22/2007 11:24:30 AM
Well done Jake & John (please don't go!), & to the rest of the team, we are so proud of you fellas. I really hope that the SA fans here can be a little more magnanimous in victory to reflect the outstanding spirit the game was played in. I thought it particularly good that (as far as I saw) the SA player treated the worst by the English press was the only one to immediately shake English hands & pat their backs at the final whistle, rather than hug his teammates - Percy. Very sporting, mate.

I'm sitting here in my office in sunny Manchester.Just to put the record straight.WELL DONE BOKKE.I'm heart broken that England didnt do it but they gave us alot to smile about. The boks have taken BEST TEAM, COACH AND PLAYER awards so for them not to have had the cup as well would have made me feel like a Thief in the night.Me and all us english here think the boks are worthy winners. We are down but not out. Chin up Enland, we'll be back. And Boks enjoy the ride.
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 11:30:51 AM
Well they did slow the ball down - illegally most of the time - although luckily for England the referee was busy watching what the Boks were up to. But like I said before, England do deserve credit for at least making a game of it. Otherwise my 55-3 predicion would have become a reality.
Kevin Williams 10/22/2007 11:31:19 AM
Congratulations 2 the Boks and the country, Bryan Habana and the whole SARU. I am a BIG BOK supporter and my hope is that the counrty would also join in the fight against crime and our so old friend, discrimination. We as a country could achieve SO MUCH AS A NATION. English 10/22/2007 11:37:52 AM
Negative rugby - WHATS with U??? Again you moaning about that. Didn't what i say earlier RING into your THICK HEAD - doesn't mean that if we play to a certain game plan that your team also has to play like that. Perhaps your team is too STUPID to try and innovate or change the way we playing or to play the way they want to. Once again your STUPIDY shows, you don't know JACK about rugby shRoom. Nothing wrong to slow the game down. STUPIDY must be a BOK thing hey...
Mark 10/22/2007 11:37:55 AM
We went off to the Eiffel Tower to watch it, BIG MISTAKE. The English fans that were there were the typical soccer hooligans, drunk out of their minds. They showed no respect at all, swearing while our anthem was playing, throwing bottles at the big screen, abusive. It was an absolute disgrace. Something that no British Press will ever report on, I guess they are to proud to admit they have these types of people in their society. It was not that there were only two or three doing it, majority of them down there we doing it. Anyway I had my celebration the night before and we are WORLD CHAMPIONS..............and better people.

I together with the rest of RSA am very happy for the Springboks to have won the Rugby World cup. I do believe that the victory should be seen in the proper context. 1. The Springboks had a relatively easy passage through to the finals 2. Referees? decisions had a major influence on most games 3. The All Blacks were not beaten by France- the referee did (and RSA touch judge) 4. South Africa did not beat England in the final. Poor refereeing did. As far as Jake White is concerned I no

Remember it is easy to support a winning team and it may be a very different story in 2011. To all the other SA supporters 'Congratulations' on an excellent win. Here's to 2011 !.

It is our country, and our politics - yes, we do not agree with it but are going to try and do whatever we can to stop this political moment so we can keep our side!this is truly an amazinng side-so much talent and heart-it would be a shame not to keep them together! So please leave the politics out of this-it's just plain hurtful-rather keep your comments to yourself then because it is unneccessary to bring this issue up.

We have no doubt you will be back England (if you didn't world rugby would be the poorer for it), hopefully this next 6 nations is time for you and I think it could not come sooner. Irish (reigning champs) out, French - who knows???? Maybe Scotland can continue with their new game. Again, good sentiment, Thanx!
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 11:45:19 AM
I did congratulate England for making a game of it. Unfortunately I think the England supporters were hoping I would take back my prediction from Friday. Like I said, it was way off the mark but it could have been a reality had it been a running game of rugby. The final was not pretty and I'm just glad that England did not win as it would have been detrimental to the game of rugby.
Clint 10/22/2007 11:45:36 AM
Honestly! which team is going to throw all caution to the wind in a RWC final both teams played steady cautious games and it just happened that the Boks were much stronger and more mentally focused than England, thanks to England however for being a great surprise package and defying all odds to represent themselves at the highest stage, it really does alot for the progression of rugby in general giving hope to the lesser teams
Danie vd Linde 10/22/2007 11:51:43 AM
So we all happy but some of us are already awaiting the "Death Blow" from the goverment wanting to implement new team quatas once again. Read some intresting viewpoint and must agree that the way forward would be to develop rugby in townships, build rugby ground, train couaches and buy the needed eqiupment. Without these we will never be a competitive representative team on the world front. I am sure there are children in the township who could be world class players in 10-15 years time !
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 11:53:34 AM
Quote: "We beat the aussies to get to the final :-) unlike you, who did you guys beat ???" Okay, let me think... we beat YOU 36-0..and then just to make sure - we beat you again! Since you are ranked 2nd in the world right now...I guess that means we are good enough to be WORLD CHAMPIONS.
Werner 10/22/2007 11:55:03 AM
What a great double it will be, South Africa being crowned as WORLD CHAMPIONS - well done BOKKE... An then The Lions defeating the Cheetha's in the Currie Cup Final to be crowned as South Africa's best... Watch this space...

Ivanie -it was the World Cup Tournament so that makes us World Champs. We are also ranked no 1 in world rugby now (which is a rating over a period of time and from "winning-sic" lots of teams. I am very proud to be South African and thought a really tough game was won by the better team on the day.England displayed their typical Bulldog spirit and ran us close-well done to them. We have now won the tournament twice -lets go for a third in 2011. Paul.
GAS 10/22/2007 11:59:24 AM
Hopefully this emphatic win will enspire any and all aspiring little Bokke to play at the highest level. The cricketers have already started saying enough know with the racism/quotas (in the name of transformation) and people will now realise that it's about the sport and winning at the highest level against the very best that matters. P.S really hope the AB's don't fire Henry for his mistake and "give him another chance"...
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 11:59:50 AM
I agree with your comment, however the present government are not interested in change 10-15 years from now. Just like everything else they want to fasttrack 'development' by forcing numbers in teams. This will have a detrimental affect and although they will get the numbers right, the problems at the lower levels will still exist. Fix the cause and not the symptoms I say.
Carole Vries 10/22/2007 12:00:32 PM

Pretty disappointing comment, mate. Not everyone is out to get you on this forum... Since you wondered about it, I have never, ever wavered in my support of SA, even at the worst of times. Hope that clarifies for you.

To Jake White, the team and the whole staff a big thank you and congratulations to this victory. You have shown us all how important it is to work as a team. Hi Danie, isn't that what the 'government' / sponsors are already doing? Bradley Habana is involved in the township rugby development and all sorts - who knows, with the right coaching etc etc, we might come right sometime. not for 2011 tho, think that one is going to be a joke but maybe after lotsa work, 2015? dunno maybe i'm just an optimist?
Brad 10/22/2007 12:13:08 PM
Well done SA. Firstly could some one help me understand this, I've read a few comments that if England had won it would have been detrimental to the game of Rugby? Surely if you win you win, why would it be bad for the game? Do you mean detrimental in how defensive and therefore dull the game was? That's how England play, any1 could see that in the games they played against France and Aus. At the end of the day, England made more errors and SA kept their shape and converted on the mistakes
GAS 10/22/2007 12:14:44 PM
Our saving may yet come from unexpected quarters... Have you noticed on their sites and their press the likes of the AB's starting to rumble about the SA politicians intentions . They are saying it makes no sense. You can only reach great heights if you compete against the best and the Springboks have been among the best for 100 years. till today the AB's class themselves as those that have played the Bokke and thiose that havent....
Julian Faasen 10/22/2007 12:19:55 PM
The Boks were awesome and I am so proud of them! Jake is a genius! They showed the discipline, commitment, character and flair (when required) to be no 1! No other team came close...we are the worthy champions. Having said that, one can only hope and pray that the politicians will keep their grubby hidden-agenda paws out of rugby and sports in general. There's enough problems on our streets for them to be passionate about. Killing the game will not change the past...well done Boks!!!
GAS 10/22/2007 12:22:36 PM
Even some of the ex English players have said quietly (for the sake of the RWC) that England's progress in this RWC has been more of an evil for them than a positive. They, like us, have huge challenges in their rugby setup. The last four years have been a disaster for them and they need a good shake up. Even Ashton has said that if he had fielded a young side he would have got beaten badly. A win would have plastered closed the issues... Just a view, not authority.
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 12:23:58 PM
It doesn't matter how much they ramble about the SA politicians' intentions - it won't change anything. When push comes to shove they will do what they want and us (the people) will have to accept it.
Anti Bok 10/22/2007 12:24:59 PM
You the one with our brains and commen sense. You still haven't accepted that you guys werent good enough on saturday to score a try. Yes you bliksemed us in the group stages but saturday night was no walk over (as many of you predicted) England fought hard, we manage to contain you from attacking. You dwell on the aspect of 'negative rugby' ag please.SA could have been more agressive, tried different things instead of sticking to so called 'negative rugby' that england plays.
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 12:29:36 PM
" Do you mean detrimental in how defensive and therefore dull the game was? " <-- Yes... it also has an affect on future laws which need to be introduced for the game to be more appealing to the spectators. Nobody wants to watch a game comprising of mauls and penalty kicks/drop goals - 'cept maybe England supporters.
Amelia 10/22/2007 12:30:10 PM
Congratulations SA! It was so satisfying beating the Pommies on Saturday. Any team making it to the quarter finals deserves to be taken seriously in any WC tournament - England made it there by playing their brand of boring rugby. Thankfully SA stuck to the basics and beat them at their own game. Roll model of the WC has to be Percy for being the player he is - even after being pushed he kept his cool and didn't make an issue of it - humble to the end.

Nothing is as dissapointing as the fact that we will be hosting the soccer world cup and we suck at it Maybe the Boks should raid the BAfana Bafana camp and teach them a thing or too...and as for Mr White he should maybe train them... Or maybe there should be more white boys on the soccer team...they seem to be more commited to making SA proud than the BAFANA BAFANA team. and if you will comment on this, be damn sure you know what you are talking abt coz our national soccer team sucks-period

You are just fueling the fire - leave it now! england didn't score a try either, and lets not start talking about all the kak that england supporters spoke about what they would do to the springboks on saterday, that didn't materialise either! get over it man, all of you. south africa won, end of story - who gives a sh*t how! we should have only played against 14 men after that jack ass pushed percy, but then again it might have changed nothing. just celebrate with a nation, and be cool!
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 12:45:32 PM
"You the one with our brains and commen sense." <-- Could not have said it better myself ol' chap. Yes, I have mentioned negative rugby - which was mostly illegal according to the laws of the game. It is this negative attitude by England which forced the game into a penalty shoot-out. I am not saying England should NOT have played like this because like I have said, if they played any other way they would indeed have received a pasting Winston Churchill would have been proud of.
GAS 10/22/2007 12:45:49 PM
You sound like a SA supporter turned England supporter if I'm not mistaken, apologies if that's not the case. If so, don't let your anti bok'geid blind you. Sat night was not about scoring tries it was about becoming World Champs again. They proved in the RWC that they could score tries 33 of them, only outdone by the AB's, 5 against England in the 36-0 lesson. If we had scored any tries it would have turned a good win into a hiding and who wants to see that in a final?
ZS 10/22/2007 12:48:25 PM
Maybe the cynics reading this would find the suggestion laughable, but perhaps a significant boost to developing the game at grassroots level could come from our new Champions. These players are heroes to everyone in South Africa, imagine the interest in the game they could generate if a system was put in place whereby their places in the national squad had to be justified by putting sufficient work into coaching clinics, academies, etc. No development work = no selection. Is this possible?
JACK LEVIN 10/22/2007 12:52:04 PM
As an ex-pat, living in Lodon, it was great to see the Bokke win.I rubbed it in by wearing my springbok jersey on the tube the next day-and almsot got beaten up.It was great beating the English.South Africa is always the best, and will dominate rugby for the next 4 years with this team. Well done John Smit and co Jack Levin

Brad 10/22/2007 12:55:48 PM
Thanks for the answers to my question! I was pretty impressed that England kept Habana at bay or else the game would have been over pretty quick. Yes the game may have been dull but it was played in a fashion that to me that is Rugby, and relied on brute strength, stamina and discipline. The very basics of the game, and that to makes a victory sweeter. Can you believe bookmakers Ladbrokes have just installed NZ as favourites to win come 2011? SA are 4/1, Aus 6/1 and Eng 8/1.
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 12:58:55 PM
Your previous comment made no sense. We are WORLD CHAMPIONS, ranked no. 1 in the world...have beaten all the teams of note in the past four years, have won nearly all the awards, and yet you still talk about us not doing enough to deserve it. I didn't say we needed to beat a POSITIVE team, it would have just made the rugby better for the spectators... we beat all the nations, whether they played positive or not - and we will do so again!
Proud Englishman 10/22/2007 1:01:48 PM
'Malika' no-one snubbed Mbeki so get over yourself. He was the biggest hypocrite in being there after his comments about the team not being a proper representation of SA. 'Me again' who exactly is mopping and what are they mopping ?. Or should that be 'mope' ?. 'ShRoOm' you just carry on making a total arse of yourself ... And please don't mention Winston Churchhill when your knowledge of history is obviously as good as that of rugby.
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 1:03:12 PM
People I know who were supporting South Africa in a pub in England on Saturday night were harrassed, had their hair pulled and were sworn at by England supporters. When they got home they found their glass door was stoned. Typical.

Well, we've seen what a team chosen on merit can do: they won the Rugby World Cup again. Bravo, Bokke! Now with the upcoming World Cup Soccer, let's see what happens when the team is chosen by the politicians on racist criteria. Just look at the government of the country: corruption, kleptocracy, racist nepotism, ridicule in the eyes of the world. I dont think it is completely out of the question. Thing is though, they need to start NOW, putting those young boys into teams in test matches and let them get the swing of things. we have won the world cup now, we dont have to prove ANYTHING. if we lose the next 10 games because of inexperience thats okay - so what! let us be the laughing stock of the rugby world, in 4 years when they have a team of 30 players, who are kick ass, we'll talk again! who'll laugh then?
Anti Bok 10/22/2007 1:08:30 PM
IF if if - GAS the FACT is that you guys did NOT score any tries. Are all of you that THICK ??? I was never a SA supported. ShRoom, don't dwell on the passed (36 - 0) hiding... you guys couldn't re-produce that on Saturday what many of you were predicting. England fought hard, played with pride and gave everything to defend their title. Im a proud englishman !
Marlo 10/22/2007 1:09:56 PM
Why is it that as soon as we have a winning team and coach we want to get rid of them. This team together with the coaching staff have proven themselves over and over and now we want to get rid of them?
Michael Wood 10/22/2007 1:11:28 PM
I arrived at a bar in Seoul, to find the lads had set up a braai with boerie and biltong. Scrooge Pub in Itaewon was packed with South Africans, singing Shosholoza, dancing to South African music and sporting flags, face-paint and any other form of SA regalia they could muster. I've never been more proud to be South African. Jake, John and the rest of the boys have done us proud. As I left, I overheard "Makes you wish you were South African" I grinned, because I am South African.

One seems to forget, the Boks played the Poms twice this world cup... Boks 51 points scored, England 6 points scored (in 160 minutes of rugby).... why bother even trying to compare the teams, the difference is there for all to see.
Keep on keeping on... 10/22/2007 1:25:14 PM
To the BOKKE CONGRATULATIONS you have certainly made BEST of the challenges that came your way. I really must say,YOU HAVE BROUGHT OUT THE TRUE MEANING OF OUR NATIONAL NATIONAL.Mayibuye!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately there are the few arrogant, xenophobic, moronic supporters on either side (you being one of them) that ruin it for the rest of us. This was the case for me on Saturday night with one person that reminded me of you. Amazing how when I confronted him, with the support of a lot of SA supporters, he quickly shut his mouth. The other SA supporters were truly awesome and respect was mutual. Congratulations again to SA.
Tina 10/22/2007 1:30:11 PM
It was a wonderful game! Both sides played well - (let's ignore the "funny tricks" of the English) but I only feel so sad that there was no one to shake Matfield's hand or to congratulate him as Man of the Match! Nor his coach or any team buddy was there. He was all alone. Even the presenter of the trophy to him failed to made a proper gesture. Was it jealousy perhaps?Perhaps everyone was so carried away to be the winners!
Proudly SA 10/22/2007 1:33:52 PM
First of all I thank God who made it possibble for SA to be world champs, again I really take off my hat to the BOKKE team and their coach. We are proud of u guys and u have done us well. Keep up the good work. I hope Bafana will also follow in your steps in 2010.Proudly SA citizen
Yvonne Venter 10/22/2007 1:35:33 PM
Weldone to the team and management. I think the team, coach and South African Rugby Union must stay the same and Jones must also stay. Do not change anything to the Springboks. You are the pride of the nation and the world. May you go from strength to strength!!!!! Yvonne.
Go Merit!! 10/22/2007 1:35:42 PM
With so much talk about the "new racial" quotas and the new "rugby team", why dont the current bok team break away and form their own team. In this way we can all support the real boks who deserve to be there, and not some alleged half-baked team chosen by politicians. Go S.A. politicians and SARU, time to make another smart move!!
Shirley 10/22/2007 1:36:25 PM
Dunno if sa was the best team, and we will never know. im a sa supporter deur and deur but in all honesty, NZ was robbed. but then they shouldn't have only been 5 points ahead of a team like france to begin with! food for thought!
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 1:39:07 PM
You lost twice to us... get over it! England now has an opportunity to learn from their mistakes... who knows, maybe in four years time you guys might beat NAMIBIA! I know that's an insult to Namibian rugby but I think if England try hard enough they just might do it. Fifteen Namibians against ten bored grumpy old men and a cardboard cut-out backline!

6 Points scored in 160 minutes of rugby by England. Makes you wonder what they were doing in the other 150 minutes (10 minutes for Johnny to take two kicks). Oh yes, I remember now... they were watching themselves on the big screen to make sure nobody could see their dirty play--- too bad Mr. Flood didn't get that memo.

What Now? 10/22/2007 1:48:01 PM
Jake White has showed us all if you pick the best side you'll get the best result. It's as simple as that. Now government is bringing the whole vibe down with talks about selecting a more racially correct team. Too hell with that. If you're the best you should play for your country no matter what colour you are!
Lauren 10/22/2007 1:49:06 PM
Our blood is green. I am soooo proud to be a South African. The Bokke have once again united a nation and made us all feel proud to be South African. You are the worthy winners........
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 1:50:06 PM
A "person that reminded me of you" is NOT me. If it was me I can guarantee you I would have pointed and laughed, probably resulting in random vommiting - just at the sight of you. I would have then told you get off and shown you to the nearest tissue box. I complemented your boring team and then u threw it back at me. Guess we agree then that England were pathetic and their fans are hooligans.
ZS 10/22/2007 1:55:15 PM
The point of my example above is COMPROMISE. It allows current players who have worked so hard to win the RWC to retain their places - but at the same time hopefully develops the game in an effective manner, allowing young talented players of colour to one day (in the not so distant future) step into boots that are not too big for them to fill, on merit. Ignoring development (hardnosed supporters) and ignoring merit (politicians) are 2 extremes that will eventually leave SA rugby in tatters.
Sean 10/22/2007 1:57:53 PM
I am not a huge rugby fan, but watched our victory with pride and passion. It was not about black or white - it was about "OUR" (SA) team and was supported by most South African's. Most importantly, it showed what happens when politicians butt out. A position in a world class team (as in a position in strong business) has to be earned - it is never given. If there were 15 "Haban's" in the side, the support, the passion would have been the same. Politicians, BUTT OUT, out of sport, out of business.
SA FAN 10/22/2007 1:58:02 PM
WELL DONE TO JAKE AND THE BOKKE! You did us proud! To those who want to change the racial makeup of the team I just want to say.... fine! if you base your pro rata system on those who play the game and not the population demagraphics as you won't have many to choose from if you use the latter. Yes spend more time and energy on coaching the previously disadvantaged players, but choose your strongest team else you won't win the next few RWC's. GO BOKKE!!!!
Cat 10/22/2007 1:58:40 PM
The English are such sore losers. I wish you guys can read and hear what they're saying about the game here in the UK. Everyone thinks they are a video ref all of a sudden seeing that they all think the try was definately in and they can off couse all now predict the future too as they are convinced that they would've won was the try given. I say GET OVER IT! We won fair and square and I can't stop smiling today.
Lindi 10/22/2007 1:59:14 PM
Who cares if we played NZ or not, fact of the matter is we did not, if they played better they would have been in the final, no if's or butt's, Bokke are simply the best team this time round, NZ will have their opportunity on home ground soon, so let's just celebrate our victory and be happy for a CHANGE!!!!!
Maggielou 10/22/2007 1:59:25 PM
All those comments about Percy's hair in the pom papers were sheer jealousy - probably written by a few short, fat, pink skinned and red stubble bearded ......Percy is a helluva good-looking fella and as for his rugby talents - his a MAN - not a pom! Rather critisize the a...hole who pushed him into the camera! As for the rude pigs who snubbed our President - plain hooligans!!!!!
Shirley 10/22/2007 2:03:55 PM
Yeah I agree. imagine the like of Steyn, Du Preez, even James and Burger having to move aside for quotas? will be a sad day in south africa! They all got a lot of years left in them and its not gonna be fair to a lot of people, but i do agree that something has to happen towards transformation. there is a lot of talent, and sa winning the rwc now will spur a lot of young players black and white, to get with the programme! i can only hope it doesn't ruin sa rugby completely!
SB 10/22/2007 2:04:24 PM
Well done Bokke! We're all extremely proud. With the 2010 coming up we need to give Bafana Bafana the same support and start encouraging them now. If you keep telling them they're useless then they will be. Bafana Bafana, this white tannie will support you now matter what because I am a proud South African. Now get up, dust yourself off, commit and prove that you can do it!
Mark d 10/22/2007 2:06:17 PM
There is nothing more to say - the silverware is in the cabinet! Congratulations to the boys, not only on winning, but also in the way they carried themselves throughout the tournament. They have certainly made us proud.

Proud Englishman 10/22/2007 2:09:18 PM
Your so-called compliments to the England rugby team always included a comment on the style of play etc being somehow unworthy/pathetic. Even now you say 'boring team' ... You definetely have an extremely large chip on your shoulder with the word 'xenophobic' not even coming close to your baseless hatred. You seem to lack any semblance of intelligence at all and I really do feel very sad for you. I will not encourage your xenophobic rantings any longer by any further postings.
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 2:12:30 PM
It is so typical of the english media to hype up their team. Like I said on friday, the Sun newspaper in England was one of the worst culprits, even insulting Percy's hair. I watched Sky news on Saturday morning and all the video clips were of Johnny---no mention of a team! Then they moved their focus to our "dirty play" and our "poorly represented team." Here we talk rugby, there they talk bulls***! It's a disgrace! They have tabloid mentality - no decent journalism there...
Soutie 10/22/2007 2:13:49 PM
I am disgusted with the way the readers are insulting eachother. That goes for the English and South African supporters. Why does it have to come down to this? The more you insult the other person, the more stupid you yourself sound. All the insults i have read about one country or fan base can be said about the other. Lets just be proud of our teams and support them whether they win or lose.
Mr Pom 10/22/2007 2:16:43 PM
the year is 2011, South africa's rugby team is now called the Zuma's the only white person on the team is the waterboy and they just lost 50-0 to Namibia.
GAS 10/22/2007 2:17:47 PM
"How good could I/we actaully be?" Assume 100% support from all the no unions (no side shows)... Assume 100% support from SARU (one for all and all for one team)... Assume 100% from the country's politicions (no interference at all just support).... Assume the same budget that soccer has or maybe even more, we are the world champs.... How good could the Springboks actually become - My View = Untouchable!
AJ 10/22/2007 2:19:58 PM
You guys did us proud.....England played a good game....well done...you had me in tears!!!
ZS 10/22/2007 2:22:00 PM
I don't think it is helpful to just say politicians must stay out of sport. If we, as fanatical supporters of SA & the game, sit back & do nothing, then of course politicians will interfere. There is no reason why we cannot be RWC winners one day with a representative team, as long as development is done correctly - which is up to US. If you love the game so much, then get involved, contribute, donate, whatever. Just make a difference or the politicians will. We can't just sit and complain.
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 2:22:22 PM
The facts are facts. England are a boring team, and play negative rugby. It has been mentioned in the press of various countries by actual non-tabloid journalists. I don't have 'hatred' for England, I just think they are a poor team that makes up for it by playing an illegal, negative style of rugby. Again, this is fact mentioned by many others...not only me. So don't go cry off because I don't agree with your factless argument. Be happy we didn't paste your team!
GAS 10/22/2007 2:26:25 PM
To tell the truth... not too sure why and your buddy Englishman post in here at all???? Between Fri and today you have both done nothing else other than nurled abuse, insults and provocation in every post. What's your game eh? Cheap thrill at getting the odd blogger worked up, small things small minds? Bored? You've said "going now" 3 times, Bye bye now...
Gerrie 10/22/2007 2:26:30 PM
Go Bokke !! , I'm very proud of the boks , Special thanx to u Jake, Thanks, you planned everything well!.Yes, It's bad about all the politics and other stuff, my main concern and shock came when Johnny Wilkinsen walked past Pres. Thabo Imbeki stretched out hand, and NOT shaking it. Look, I'm not a Thabo fan, but that juts plain disrespectfull man !! That in full retropect summed up the English team, on Sat I was the one who said how well both teams are respected and played. NOT!
ShRoOm 10/22/2007 2:26:57 PM
Actually, I don't need to look further than England to find hooligans. Although I'm sure there were a few in Paris too.
