What is more certain in life than the absolute certainty of death? We go through the daily motions of living often so entangled with personal power struggles that we find ourselves sometimes completely oblivious to the sheer fragility of human life.
One day the world seems such a beautiful place, and our lives seem replete with hope, happiness and promise. Yet in the very next instant, all that we have amassed in the years behind us and all that we are hopeful of expecting in years to come can be shattered with such frightening swiftness.
We take to the roads most times without so much of a thought of the gamble that we are engaging in. Our lives are placed in the hands of the vehicle opposing us, and it is only some kind of perverse trust that guarantees that the fellow road user won't come crashing into us as a result of recklessness or negligence. Life and death divorced by intermittent white lines.
Words can never be enough at the loss of human life. Ashley Callie, a woman of remarkable standard and an actress of sensational quality, brought us Lee Haines with a classy professionalism that is truly incomparable.
Although thousands of us never knew Ashley in the way one would know a close friend, come half past six every weekday, we felt closer to you than anyone else in our lives at the time as we lost ourselves in your naturalness. Your beaming smile, your unsurpassed grace and your unparalleled demeanor will forever be etched in our memory.
Thank you for touching our lives with your elegance and bearing. Your memory will continuously live on in our thoughts.
May God's embrace bless those close to you and may your spirit live on in the lives of all those who loved you.
