trouble for the constitution 25/02/2008 08:48
Can't agree more with you. Unfortuanately, with all the utterances from the ANC and their leader accepting this, it shows that they have no respect for the country or constitution. Scary to think that they see themselves as the law!! Just sorry the man on the street does not understand this and will keep supporting the party that tolerates this. - Ron |

Still some hope... 25/02/2008 08:49
I have to say I am really glad that all races in SA can see this, it is so negative at the moment in this country and I still say if the people will just stand together and fight for what is right, things were done wrong, now it is time to it right... Well spoken Ndumiso, I really think you compliment this continent of ours... ;) - So True... |

the SHAME here is that nobody lashes out against it. Where is the other countries who imposed Sanctions on SA because of Apartheid? Why are they so quiet now? Where are all the ACTIVISTS and STRUGGLERS against Apartheid and racial discrimination now? WHY are they JUSTIFYING It instead of SPEAKING OUT AGAINST IT?? - Carmel |

Reverse Apartheid 25/02/2008 08:55
It should be quite apparent to all now that the political climate in SA is more and more becoming a "what's in it for me - finacially" the fact that violent crime is totally out of control is of no concern to the powers to be. We are on the same path as the rest of Africa - chaos and mayhem and everyone for himself. - Chris Pieters |

Too true Ndumiso 25/02/2008 08:59
I was howver encouraged to hear that many black journalists who do have integrity walked out or did not attend at all,in solidarity with their white counterparts.Let Zuma enjoy his "yes men" while he can, as Mbeki enjoyed his.We all witnessed where surrounding himself with sycophants got him in the end (out on his ear). - The Truth |

They're rich, connected, and no one can touch them. They have money but don't have the intelligence nor have they the people around them to keep them in line or at the very least advise them against some of the more questionable things they might say. They are big kids with big toys and little minds. This isn't a shock, black SAcans just want revenge. Not all mind you. Yee of little education, no intelligence and much stupidity. Why do you run my country? BTW I am Black. - Mabs |

Ja ai... 25/02/2008 09:03
Ndumiso so many of us feel the same way you feel. Problem is - we are white, and when we air our concerns, we are called racists and apartheid lovers. We need people like you - black people - to do something. Lets agree on this - most black people in South Africa are good, hardworking people that only want to live in peace with everybody. I assure you the same can be said about the whites. We must keep on fighting against the people that are trying to break the unity between us. - Hennie |

Very sad indeed 25/02/2008 09:03
I was a very lucky white guy. I had the best education and was offered all the possibilities here in SA. I have 3 siblings with the same lucky upbringing. One of my brother?s left for greener pastures in Canada 10 years ago and has built a great life for himself there. At present my two remaining siblings are deep in the emigration process, and I being the only remaining positive spokesperson for SA in my family.
As stated in this article it is very hard to remain positive, it is as if the black community wants us to leave. I don?t want to but I will if forced.

Absolute Rubbish 25/02/2008 09:05
This is a stupid article..Ndumiso how can on earth do you link the Irvin Khosa story to reverse racism??Irvin was addressing a black journalist with the K-word.will you Ndumiso label African-Americans by calling themselves niggas as reverse racism??I don?t see how you can link this to reverse rascim.secondly freedom of expression and association was not the reasons used for the FBJ but members-only briefing.Belelani organized the same king of media briefing yet you reactionaries never commented.Rascist media reporting is undoing the progress we made against apartheid and it is therefore important to establish organizations in the interest of black people in this country - kolobe |

Kaffir 25/02/2008 09:07
I really do not get this issue about kaffir. Kaffir is not synonymous with black, and therefore itse use cannot be summarily assumed to mean black, except only by a racist who sees an equivalent in the term. Best way to move forward is to ensure that words cannot hurt us anymore. the more we make an issue out of this, the more it is clear that the wounds will never heal - L van Heerden |

Afriforum 25/02/2008 09:10
Whilst I would also be disgusted by the Blacks only invitation which is racist, we should not use tunnel vision when dealing with these issues. We have Afriforun looking at the interest of a certain race and linguistic group, Black Management Forum, Black Lawyers Association and also Solidarity. You cannot deal with these issues/organisations exclusively. We need to send a message to all these racist driven organisations that we will not be fooled into their narrow and selfish interest. - Libembe |

Most blacks have this "get even" mentality. This government is just as racist as the previous one. All this AA/EE/BEE is blatant racism. Its been 14 years. People just stop complaining about the past and always using it as a convenient excuse to hide behind.

Living in reverse apartheid 25/02/2008 09:14
Mr Khoza, you miss the point in your story, allow me to clarify certain things. The use of the k-word by another African drives a crass point regarding the person the word is directed at - emulating the white master. I am not sure if the fellow Mr Khoza directed his comment was desrving of this k-word. Secondly, the FBJ is an all important body. There was not so much hulabaloo when it was initially started. What we should be asking is what led to the demise of the structure earlier. - Vukile Pokwana |

Your sentiment is shared by many Ndomisu.Wonder why so many people are leaving this country? Not so much becuase of crime, thats only a justification.Having come back recently from visiting OZ one thing I noticed is that the last thing that comes to mind is politics and the nervous energy one spends on it as in S.A.You like may of us are tired of it because our lives are consumed by this crap here whereas there one spends ones energy on living ones life to the fullest.Divide and rule, not apartheid - psycobabble |

Blacks are STILL worse off! With a few blacks rich beyond their dreams and the rest dying of CRIME! You got what you wanted, now deal with it! If you cannot build, you don't deserve! Great article Ndumiso - I was equally astounded by the happenings at the FBJ, and more particularly Zuma's comnments thereto. Place of Whites? 25/02/2008 09:30
On Friday a gentelman in one of the responses to an article stated that it is about time that whites know their place in the new south africa!? I would like to know, what is our place in the south africa, or do you feel whites have no place in the new south africa? Please explain this statement to me? I see myself as a positive white citizen of south africa with no more or less standing than any other citizen of our country, however a statement like that does tend to leave a bitter taste. - Chris |

This "reverse" form of apartheid is here to stay. If AA/EE is scrapped and everyone is on the same footing there will be no more cozy jobs that pay salaries that are way above market related. There will also be no more get rich quick BEE deals. How beautifully and gently you have put this atrocity against our democratic constitution. I salute you, and thank God, most of our learned people of all races agree with you.
Our past, and the recent past, has been painful for all of most of us, except those in power. The little we have gained as a nation is being lost slowly but irrevocably.

What's is all this noise about? Can someone tell me when the word "kaffir" became synonymous with black??
Secondly, why haven't these idiots in the media reported on the context that the statement was made??
In my books, Khoza was justified is saying what he said to that journalist and I wish more South Africans would do the same. How long must we be subject to defamatory and slanderous reporting as a result of "reliable / unnamed / anonymous" sources?

Well spotted Ndumiso...This has been evident for some time now to many people. The sad thing is with the way these comments and actions are escalating, we have to be asking the question...Where will we be in another few years? This Zuma and his "comrades" are hell bent on revenge and once they have had their fill, there will only be greed left, greed against their own like what has happened in most of Africa. We need to rid our country of vermin like this, this is not the leadership we want in SA - KevinD |

The Media Sensitionalizes Issues 25/02/2008 09:51
Irvin was adressing a black person, the journalist did not complain, because he understood the context of Khoza's utterances. It is Khoza himself who reported what he said during a press conference. This is not the same as a white person calling a black person a kaffir. The FBJ is not new,it was a re-launch it is the equivalent of Black Lwayers Association. Why the noise now.Black professionals are still undermined and treated inferior and they have the right to get together and discuss issues. - NhlanhlaM |

Misconception 25/02/2008 09:51
People have this misconception that only whites can be racist. I'm a colored female and admit to being racist re. muslim people. I acknowledge this and work towards being accepting of their culture. Everyone is guilty of being a racist and the difference is you get people who realize this and try to accept difference and don't discriminate and then there's people who revel in their racist way of thinking. - Pam |

"reverse" racism / apartheid 25/02/2008 09:54
There is no such thing as "reverse" racism / apartheid. Racism is racism, apartheid is apartheid. They are both very much alive in SA - its just that now it is black on white. Now its acceptable, because its "reverse". As Mike said imagine the out cry if there was the FWJ or White economic empowerment... - sad |

It is not about race. It is all about power 25/02/2008 10:00
The only form of racism that is deemed morally wrong the world over is when white people discriminate against people who are not white bassed on skin colour alone. For other races to do the same to whites is always deemed OK, the world over. Because of this, over time, people with whites skins will lose politcal power and either disappear or be reduced to powerless, oppressed and abused minorities as has happened here in SA and more so in Zimbabwe. - alan |

I turn to differ with the majority, who responded on the k-word,
First I don?t promote the use of it, but let?s first look at the content of the matter not the context.
Here are my views in this matter, Khoza was responding on the irresponsible journalist whom without checking the facts went all the way to publish rumours on the national and international media, enough is enough South African has already received bad publicity from so? called ?our own.

| |
Why now 25/02/2008 10:08
It is strange how the Sandton Set find it a serious violation of human rights when the FBJ deems it appropriate to have a "Blacks only" meeting. For the past 6 years it has become near impossible for white middle class to poor tradesmen to get jobs based on the colour of their skin. They get told by employment agencies and prospective employers that they are white and posts must be filled by black people only. ESKOM is a great example of not employing whites and getting rid of white people. - May Windsor |

State of the Country 25/02/2008 10:08
Good one - Its time the media mobilise its journalists to report on these types of situations, so that a process of political education can take place. I say expose as many of these issues including bribery, corruption, nepotism, and abuse/misuse of state funds as possible, so that we the people are better informed for decision making at the next election - that is a true democracy! Ndumiso Khoza for President! 25/02/2008 10:15
I enjoy reading your articles, I find them articuate and interesting. I agree that Khosa's remark were hurtful and inappropriate. It does not matter that the target was another black person - does he think he is better than everyone else??? You should run for president I like your ideas - I would vote for you!

How can being derogatory be positive? 25/02/2008 10:19
I am sorry if I don't get it, Kolobe. But if you insult me with any derogatory word, must I sit back and say it is acceptable to treat another human being like crap. I think not. I personally am sick of being blamed for things put in place before I was even born. I do not think BEE and AA unfair as long as they are implemented properly. I have spent my last few years being labeled something I am not based on my skin colour. I am not a racist, I am a South African just like you. - The Grem |

REAL APPARTHEID 25/02/2008 10:20
Have any white person been detained, tortured, denied there constitutional rights or refused the right to develop to there full potential. Have any white person since 1994 been removed from his land dispossessed and forcefully removed form his home. Have any white persons house been demolished and the area reclaimed as a blacks only area. White peoples racist brains can not understand what real apartheid is as they live in denial of the truth - colin |

Here, here! 25/02/2008 10:24
Lets stop seeing in colour and look at people for the human beings they are. Racism seems to pervade almost every culture and maybe eons ago it served a purpose but we are an evolving species - it's time to get with the programme and see each other as human beings. - Michelle |

Reverse Apartheid? No it isn't! 25/02/2008 10:26
How can it be reverse apartheid? I thought democracy and our new constitution were the reverse of apartheid... if you set up a chess board, black pieces and white pieces in their respective places, then turn the board board 180 degrees, is it reverse chess that you will play? NO! it's still chess, and this is apartheid... or pay back! - Gareth |

Should I be here? 25/02/2008 10:27
I read this article, and I think I should stop my emigration process. Then I think back to an incident where I asked help from a medical core army member to assist a woman with heat stroke. They refused to help, but I insisted, saying that they're responsible for the country and its civilians. At this point they told me I'm a racist from the old regime, it doesn't work like that anymore. I'm sorry, but racism is alive and well in our democracy, and we need to deal with it urgently. - PDR |

Oh please.... 25/02/2008 10:27
This will continue to happen in S.A. Once JZ is in the oppocalypse will start. Leave S.A. and let him ruin it for them. We will watch from overseas on the news as millions of S.A. citizens are starving due to the JZ regime. He proved this with his comments at the FBJ. Ethehopia has more hope...[pity we are to stupid to see this). My concern is for my children only... - Craig |

Reverse Apartheid 25/02/2008 10:27

Wise words... 25/02/2008 10:27

Reverse racism 25/02/2008 10:28
Ndumiso, you have written a good article which takes courage as it is no longer tolerated if anyone speaks out against the government. However, I wish to point out, it doesn't end there; when a young white boy shoots black people, it's called racist. What do you call all the senseless murders and torture taking place whenever black people rob white people then? Unfortunately, reverse racism has crept in and we need a "Mandela" to stand up and say something. - Wayne |

let them get together, but was is JZ trying to teaach them? 25/02/2008 10:29
The real issue to watch out for is not whether
its racist to exclude whites from this black forum, in fact i think thats fine if they want to discuss issues pertaining to black jounalists only... but thats not what JZ wanted is it? His aim is to try and get the black media on his side, and try convince them never to report the corruption and scandal that goes on. His angle is to tell them they are unpatriotic if they report any bad news about big cheif JZ and his mates. Its an old trick. - tommo |

Good on you 25/02/2008 10:30
Ndumiso Khoza - good article with a great view of SA. Since we live in democracy , ignore the negative comments, because the majority agrees. The time for white and black discrimination is over. We must fight as South African for our and our children's future! - DVR |

Racism is Racism 25/02/2008 10:32
The ANC is a racism, self centered group of political bullies who committed fraud against those in the world that assisted them come to power.
The ANC has no interest in a non racial, non sexist society and only uses this ideal as a political battering ram.
I would be prepared to go to war to get them out of power.
We need professional public administrators, not power hungry corrupt thieving liars. - Forgotten Men and Women |

Living in reverse 25/02/2008 10:32
Well done Ndumiso! It gives me hope for this country to see there are still some sane level headed people out there. We need more of you to make this country great and to halt the madness. You also halt the perception and stereotype we as whites are forced on us by the continuous blunders of the ruling party and their extreme arrogance. - Michael |

Poor Mandela 25/02/2008 10:34
I feel so sorry for this man. He spent all those years in prison because he wanted an EQUAL society, and he was prepared to spend his LIFE in jail for it.. It must be so disheartening for him, to see in his last days, his dream being totally perverted and shattered by the new generation. His fight was in vain. He suffered for NOTHING!! - Juan |

history 25/02/2008 10:35
Those that do not learn from mistakes in history are doomed to repeat them. Up until this year it seemed the govt wanted whites to stay in SA, it just seems like now they are doing their best to get us to leave, and all this is contributing to that feeling. - B |

Thank you! 25/02/2008 10:38
Thank you for this letter! It proves what I've been saying for so long... black, white, no matter what color, can agree and live in harmony... but the bad apples (ALL THE RACES HAVE THEM) are the ones who will keep us back from creating the paradise that South Africa can and should be. Thank you, you are a true South African!!! - Lew |

Kolobe 25/02/2008 10:45
Kolobe, the fight against apartheid didn't mean the table must be turned 180 degrees. It seems to me that that is your mentality.
The fight was for equality not power shift. You can't justify 'Blacks Only' just because there used to be 'Whites Only'. A 180 degrees turn is just as bad as apartheid. - Thabo |

Kolobe 25/02/2008 10:45
I try to never comment on my own articles, but broer, point of correction comrade. This was NOT a "members-only" briefing. Not only FBJ journalists were invited, but ALL black journalists. And THIS is what bothers the rest of us. It means that it was PURELY organised at the exclusion of ALL white journalists. That is discrimination whether you are black or white. - Ndumiso |

Absolute Crap 25/02/2008 10:52
I am not from the same mould as Kolobe but I share the same sentiments with him. It's time white people saw things beyond colour barriers. Let black people express themselves and pursue their agenda without someone crying foul. Tell me if there is no racism in rugby and cricket ? - Concerned |
