My 21 year old niece achieved 93% average in matric and is now a 3rd year medical student. She has never had less than a distinction at university but cannot get a bursary (wrong colour). Once she has finished her 2 year community service if she chooses to take her skills elsewhere she will be damned either for abandoning her country to whom she should be grateful or will be accused of being a racist who cannot accept the changes here. Sad to say but you are so right. Black people will never get jobs on merit since they don't have any. They will always need to make sure companies fill their quotas of black faces before actually doing businesses even if it means they go bankrupt. Saying AA will always be required is saying that blacks will always need help to stand on their own. Will blacks always receive low grade education? Will they never get to the same merit levels as whites and always need government intervention? AA is there to correct an imbalance. Saying AA should be around forever is saying the government will never correct that imbalance.
Do you just enjoy the AA because whites suffer or do you think blacks will never lift themselves?

Today I am a BCom Graduate and am employed as an Accountant by one of the biggest companies in this country and I do contribute positively to the success of the finance team. This would never ever been possible if BEE AA or Transformation was not implemented ? it is directly as a result of Transformation and AA that I could obtain bursaries to successfully complete my studies. The exclusion of Blacks from the mainstream of the economy for the major part of the previous century have led to the implementation of certain policies to enable our society to transform - should we have left this in the hand of whites and allow them to decide to include Black into that mainstream, if this would have been the case I would not been able to achieved the successes I have achieved to date. - colin |
