Pitso, I want to remain positive as I believe it is more fun. It is a struggle esecially after reading your analysis. I have to say it is lacking in substance and full of innuendo and assumptions. You are right to be worried, but what is more worrying is that the rot you have illustrated is not confined to the SABC but is occurring in all sectors most worrying of all in our government. I never watch SABC anymore, but I had a choice. I got DSTV and can now enjoy decent entertainment, don't listen to the radio, I've bought CD's, but there is no other government I can go to unless I leave the country - maybe that is my only option?? - Karen |

There are no good programs on any of the SABC channels! The only good stuff on SABC2 was moved from 19h30 in the evenings to 22h00. Only a bunch of nonsense is now aired. SABC1 has no more good shows and the only viewable programs are on SABC3 and only late at night. - Bad Reception |

Hey! There's loads of good shows on SABC! George, 7de Laan, Song vir Katryn, Survivor, Hustle, Jericho, Heroes, Las Vegas, Amazing Race, and the list goes on. Every person I know who is fortunate enough to be able to afford DSTV, also watches SABC. And no, I'm not one of the "fortunate" ones. Can you people even exist without finding something to complain about? Many of the SABC critics claim not to watch SABC. If that is the case, what informs their criticism about program and standards in the SABC? I watch SABC and at times I do hear myself at the pronounciation of simple words but I have received more bad TV from DSTV as I get from SABC. At least, SABC is free, while DSTV endlessly repeats the same programming when not increasing prices or swapping channels every other month. - Len van Heerden |

In the past, we had Pik and FW dictating to the SABC - I know, I was there. Then there was a brief period from around 1990 to the late 90's when we got the chance to be professional and deliver news we could be proud of. Then the ANC realised the SABC could be its mouthpiece just like it was for the old NP. The end result is that nothing changes - only the names! The SABC will never be independent as long as it's funded by the government. - jeremy |
