SWEPT UNDER THE CARPET 09/05/2008 12:57
Just another pointless enquiry which will be swept under the carpet without any actions thereafter whatsoever. Many of us believe that our Mr Pres is as corrupt as many in his Government with no hope that the "other" side of the new ANC Government is going to be any better. Just no hope for any improvements under the entire lot and that includes all the sides of the ANC Regime! - Kobus Hattingh |

Is this something new? 09/05/2008 13:00
This is not a new phenom and neither is it only isolated to SA. It happens everywhere, others are a just more careful and have been doing it for longer. Haliburton in the states is just one example. Its special interest groups and the money that goes with it that runs politics not moral or ethical values. - MCOB |

ANC credibility 09/05/2008 13:09
Like the case of Bob Mugabe, the ANC has recently been a victim of a relentless media campaign to discredit them, this onslaught being funded by white business groups that profit in Africa. They use the well proved method of making repeated claims, without proof, which the public eventually believe, like the Bush strategy in Irac. Wake up Africa, have some loyalty towards your own leaders, support them, they are your only way forwards and will set you free from the veiled ongoing slave trade. - critical thinker |

The Rainbow Nation created by Madiba is no more. Mbeki has been the most useless, weak, despotic and arrogant President we have ever had. Funnybones hay' man. 09/05/2008 13:18
On the Mr. Selebi's case, the presidency wanted to protect the country's integrity. A proper and thorough investigation was needed before the public leakage, which is synonymous with the Scorpions, of his investigation. Remember, he was president of Interpol. Giving amnesty to Apartheid agents and prosecuting freedom fighters does call for the fitness of Adv. Pikoli to hold that office to be questioned. - Toto |

The truth 09/05/2008 13:20
The funny thing about truth is that it usually surfaces. If we read between the lines you see someone trying to make a difference (Pikoli) being subverted all along the way. If the inquiry has the desired outcome it will be published if not, the State Security organs, remnds e of the old apartheid days, will make it go away. The more things change, the more they stay the same. - Jim |

Actually it's YOU that is very funny, not Funnybones, and your spin on the Scorpions is not going to work.
There was NO ABUSE OF POWER by the Scorpions.
The only reason there is such haste to have them disbanded is that they uncovered the extent of the corruption and criminal activities of quite a few ANC heavyweights.
If their investigations had uncovered nothing they would not be under threat.
Facts are that Mbeki covered up for Selebi and ordered that the investigation/prosecution be stopped. - Bodie |

Cronyism is rife amongst the so called liberation heroes - Mugabe, Nujoma, dos Santos, Machel, Mbeki and filters down to the Selebi's and there incompetence and corruption is covered-up constantly. Mbeki gives too many direct orders. Cover Selebi's corrupt ass. Give permission for the ''Chinese'' arms to be transported to Zim. Anyone who defies him is ostracised. The same is happening under proven corrupt JZ. Fortunately Botswana & Tanzania have defied cowtailing to these older cronies - Filemon |

Most of us have accepted that a long time ago. However I think John Camp, and other right minded people may agree with me that there are opportunities in this country, and for these opportunities to become available to the people who deserve them, the government and it?s supporters need to realise that they are not doing a great job. Why when racism is supposed to be a thing of the past, and all people supposed to be equal no matter what colour or race, do you ride the racial bandwagon still? It is because of individuals like you that this country is struggling!! I don't care whether our president is black, white, yellow, pink or coloured, as long as he is honest and working for the greater good of the nation. IT IS TIME FOR A NEW POLITICAL PARTY IN THE COUNTRY AND SOME HONESTY AND ACCOUNTABILITY!! - Bad Boy |

Surely by now it should be obvious to News24 editors that it is time to give this person a rest. Are there really so few people out there with opinions worthy of publication? - SF |

True it is easy to speak nonsense when you were not directly affected. Just like jq your mental midgit mentor you claim to be victims and like jq you are very brave when there is no actual threat. Where were you affected, prove it? Still no mention of that great african country? - Dries |

Both ways @ kolobe 09/05/2008 14:55
"It is because those that died before the last decade we insignificant to you???they were buried in open graves that we cannot find today and others are still missing...It is easy to speak nonsense when you are not directly affected... - Kolobe" Kolobe this is very true, but what you tent to ignore is that went both ways also, it is the same for both the whites and the blacks. - padkos |

Wrong Word!! 09/05/2008 14:56
Was deceived the right choice of word? It infers being duped or tricked. How many of us are really that surprised. Hell most governments fall short of the mark, this one has stumbled from scandal to scandal. I dont feel deceived, I never felt secure that they were there for any reason other than to further themselves at our expense. - AJ |

Kolbe you are a blinkered racist 09/05/2008 14:58
The point Alicia is making is that you guys after you came into power have actually made it worse for all and dragged us all down to the lowest common denominator by appointing idiotic leaders like: Manto, Thabo, Charles N, The Pahads, ad nauseum! So Kolobe open your eyes and confess openly your racist bigotry. - Alan |

When he is not hiding behind a spokesperson, the SA(N)BC or "silent diplomacy" he hides behind commissions of inquiry, when the commissions tell him to ACT he hides the Kampempe report... Yes we have been deceived! Some like kolobetjie still are! - Dries |

Thanks heavens for "democracy" & the change in power in our country-it allows us to speak our minds & voice our opinions.I agree corrupt & incompetent officials should GO but that does not mean I support the critics. Frankly my life IS better now than it was under apartheid. I & my family have options & the PROMISE of a future free from white oppression & indoctrination! - lekkalik |

@Kolobe - your truth is far from the actual truth 09/05/2008 15:06
You seem to have a very arrogant attitude and think that anybody who does not see things your way is wrong or racist. How is it that you are so well informed and everybody else is so ill-informed. Who do you think you are!? I think you are not only blind to what is going around you but you are also blind to your own short-comings. "Take a look at the Man in mirror". Once you have changed yourself you can work on the rest of the world - unless, of course, you are perfect!?? - Karen |
