I felt sick 19/05/2008 15:26
I agree with you 100%
I felt absolutely sick, these mobs need to be shot now!!
They are so ready to kill innocent people, its time the cops used live ammo.
I am terribly upset today!! - Khathu |

Same reaction to the photo 19/05/2008 15:35
I saw the photo online and simply could not believe that another human being could be subjected to such barbaric behaviour. These thugs have just put a value of their own lives and when they die like dogs, very few will weep - Len van Heerden |

I'd still like to believe ... 19/05/2008 15:49
that the majority of people are decent, good human beings at heart. But I'm starting to lack evidence. So sad. - |

Correction 19/05/2008 16:09
First off I dont think I am aware of a single animal that behaves like these vicious bastards have over the past few days. There is very little hope indeed if people think that violence will solve problems. - justine |

SHAME ON YOU! 19/05/2008 16:19
I couldn't agree more-Today i am ashamed of being South african. This is another form of apartheid.Did we get our freedom in order to behave like animals? No human being should be killing another, but then again welcome to the ne SA. - Ms P |

Enough! 19/05/2008 16:41
No man, I am sick and tired of this friendlier than thou attitude that I am seeing from South Africans. I pesonally think that these attacks were a long time in the making. Home Afairs is not doing it job, the ministers of home affairs are too busy conspiring aginst Mbeki, rather than doing their job effectiverly. Have any of these people taken a walk around Jeppe street and Hilbrow no you have not. reason being that there is nothing for South Africans there, its all being taken by Foreigners. - Puka |

So this is how you payback kindness. 19/05/2008 16:47
There is a saying in the Shona language, whatever you have share with your kinsman for the memory of the memory of the stranger is so short. We believe in helping others, that is Ubuntu the African culture. When South Africa was under Apartheid the people of Mozambique,Zimbabwe,Malawi welcomed your refugees now you repay this kindness this way. We will remember this atrocity against humanity. - Garikai Dzoma |

I apologise on behalf of my ignorant and babaric country men. Unfortunately there is nothing that South Africa is going to be able to do to make up for this. - Rian |

They will Remember 19/05/2008 17:24
.. Whether they will talk of this as the year they found themselves hunted like dogs by their 'brothers'
OR as the year that their mother/grandmother was raped because of the passport she held
OR
.. whether as the year their Father/brother was burnt to death because of his accent and they way he spoke
THEY WILL REMEMBER THIS
& South Africa apatheid days, democracy will wither in comparison to these deeply felt 'brotherly' scars.

What is the use that we use words like i am because of you, you are because of me if we can't even live with people who are from the same continent as we are. Let's walk the talk and start living with other as our brothers and sisters are also in other country's and they are not threated like animals. - Daleen |

Ignorant, I think not... Realistic Yes! 19/05/2008 17:32
Look we have never said that fellow Africans are not allowed in South Africa, you are.Which is why we have set asside mechanisms for refugies coming into the country. We are tired of people who come into this country illegally and they dont treat our contry and its citizens with the respect which our exiled brother showed in your counties. I am not condoning the violence that is currently happening but lets be honest sbout the course. It not only black people there are Asians and Europeans as well - puka |

Was always going to happen.. 19/05/2008 17:37
How could this happen? Simple a government that is so far away from it's own people it has completely lost touched. This is all about work, jobs, money. Nothing more and nothing less. The more people that come into South Africa from other countries the less work there is for the South African people.. The poorer South Africans are feeling hard done by the government that they have put into power. It was never a case of if it ever happens, more a case of when it was going to happen.. About time this government stood up and starting looking after its own people instead of every other countries. - Darren |

Shabango said shoot: shoot the bastards... 19/05/2008 17:47
so what are the police waiting for? I say fight fire with fire. Use real ammo and bring in the army. The government should be held directly responsible for this. They take no stance against Mugabe and so things will never improve over there - most of the Zimbabweans left their home country out of hunger. If you are so hungry that you would rather face a river filled with crocodiles, than stay and starve how bad must things be? They do not deserve this treatment. - Cronj?i> |

Feeling sick is not the right word.............. 20/05/2008 01:07
Hell! I feel sick reading the horrifying pains and agony these disgusting animals are leashing on decent & honest humans going about in search of their legitimate daily bread. Since when has it become a crime for a citizen of the AFRICAN UNION to legitimately go in search of work in a member nation? I am very sorry I am rather honoring these mobs by taking them to a higher reasoning, knowing the lack the education and the moral intelligence to understand my point of view but whose fault it is anyway if they would choose ignorance in the midst of abundant opportunities and privileges as exists in South Africa even in the days of the apartheid regimes. Who then is the Satan that ever told them that unprovoked violence is a civilized response to damned poverty as a result of self inflicted wound --------LAZINESS? They and their sponsors should cover their dirty heads in shame for telling the world that they can?t even take care of themselves even as we the entire world fought apartheid to a standstill only to give them freedom in a platter of gold. Now, it looks like they don?t even know what to do with the freedom. SHAME!SHAME!!SHAME!!! Bongo bong people. - Dim Dum |

Barbaric Behaviour 20/05/2008 07:15
This barbaric behaviour, will cost the South African country's economy, arllies and bad reputation in tourism structure. Soon sunctions will be imporsed to SA if the government is not careful enough to realize that during their past struggles, Rhodesia/Zimbabwe had their back, to support exiled South African during so called aparthed and they were fully welcomed in their country. -London- - Facts of life ISMS |

@ puke / puka? 20/05/2008 07:47
so you advocate that because government has not done anything, and that because downtown has been "taken" by foreigners as you put it people should be burnt alive? How sick are you?! your punishment will be at the end of your life!i bet God is already punishing you as we speak. you are a real animal! - man |

It's heartbreaking to see people run for their lives 20/05/2008 08:17
I live in a little suburb on the east rand and we
have an informal settlement about 100m down the road. It's shocking to watch the news and see the violence and abuse that the foreigners are subjected to but it is heartbreaking to watch your neighbours run past your door with just a blanket on their back, clutching their children, and looking for a safe place to hide. As they flee all we can do is send up a silent prayer that they are spared. - Mani Seetal |

So, burning someone in the streets, raping women and children is the kind of respect you want? You cannot justify this barbarism. You never know how it feels to be a foreigner in a country unless you have travelled. It is a powerless situation and you depend on the kindness of others. - Len van Heerden |

With due respect, our refugees did not take your jobs, take low paying jobs and displacing locals. They lived in camps and were maintained by the organizations. They did not commit crimes in their new country. Having said that, we have an obligation to help our fellow Africans and am totally ashamed of these thugs that they call themselves South Africans. - L van Heerden |
