Congratulations are in order to our dear president Robert Mugabe for winning another term in office. It was a tough race Mr President; the MDC gave you a scare. But I knew you had plenty of tricks up your sleeve.

I always said you were a fox. I was right. Using violence to scare the MDC supporters was brilliant. Violence has never let you down - right from the time you chased away the late Joshua Nkomo.

As usual the army and police chiefs kept their word. Mister President, they need you more than you need them. Only in Africa are security chiefs millionaires and farm owners. It is their duty to ensure you don't lose power, otherwise they will lose everything.

I was not surprised by the trumped up treason charges against Tendai Biti. It's the old Idi Amin trick. You were right Mister President, a "mere X" cannot stand against the barrel of the gun. How can you campaign if your leaders are in prison? How can you speak out, if there is a gun in your mouth? Indeed, Mister President, you have degrees in violence. Only the imperialists will dare call you a dictator.

    Divine

His Excellence, Life President, don't they know you were anointed by God like your friend Mobutu Seseko? May his soul rest in peace. Britain and USA don't understand you worked hard to liberate Zimbabwe. Where were they, when you faced Ian Smith? So you can do as you please. As you said: "Tony Blair keep your Britain and I will keep my Zimbabwe".

Congratulations on another opportunity to continue your reign of plunder Mister President. It's a pity the first lady won't be able to shop in London, Rome and Paris. But Malaysia is a better option. Even Beijing has great shoes. Sandton serves delicious meals. After all south Africa owes you. They are free because of your hard work.

The governor of the Zimbabwe Reserve bank must just transfer the necessary funds into her account. The lady deserves a massive shopping spree after such a hard work campaigning for your win.

Who cares about the starving masses, if the first lady has all the shoes, she wants? Let the starving masses eat the cake. Who cares about the collapsing economy if the president can afford to buy another luxury car? Your well being, Mister President, is more important than the lack of essential medications in the public hospitals. Who cares that there are no jobs, as long the first family can go on holiday to exotic islands?

Congratulations on showing other African leaders what violence and dictatorship can achieve. Democracy is a western poison fed to the gullible African people by the imperialists. Africa needs more despots and guns. Leadership by the barrel of the gun is the cure of underdevelopment and poverty.

    Leaders we need

Your presidency has shown us that Africa needs leaders who kill their own in order to rule forever. Leaders that destroy Africa are potential by chasing our young, bright minds away. I hope the AU leaders will give you a standing ovation for your courage. You are our hero! Mister President, you are a role model. Bloodshed is stronger than reason.

Congratulations for showing the world why Africa is moving backwards. The people of Africa are free from colonialism but don't know freedom from fear. They still live in fear of hunger and starvation. They live in fear of preventable diseases. They still live in fear of oppression and brutality. They live in fear of their leaders.

People of Africa still live a life bedevilled by lack of opportunities and a bleak future.

Please don't cry for Zimbabwe but for Africa! Africa my home, Africa my despair.

Brilliant - it is a pity we dont see much of this kind of political sattire in mainstream media, but what do you expect with a state controlled national broadcaster and racial cleansing in most newspapers...the country is worse off for the lack of it.. - JFK

      colinial imperialists....
    30/06/2008 08:32
When the western imperialists involve themselves in the African agenda then that is always the results, the European interferences in the affairs of Africans is highly acceptable, the western colonial imperialists believe that they should control and own the African agenda as if we are this slaves, the dictation of choice of leaders for the African people when the west involve themselves is cleared influencing the peace and harboring the majority of the unrest in this continent, all of the African dictatorship were born as a direct result of the colonial struggle which seeks to enslave the sons of the African continent, why and why cant the colonialists leave Africans?african the land of birth? - Kolobe

      Brilliant!!

      Do they deserve it????
    30/06/2008 08:36
Over 2 million people still voted for Mugabe when they could have spoilt their paper or even voted for Morgan. I think the people of Zimbabwe should get what they voted for. Just close our border to the refugees. - Mare

      Yet Mugabe won by 80%..
    30/06/2008 08:37
Which Zimbabwean in his/her right mind casted a vote for this Moron..?It is the people of Zimbabwe who had made sure that the tyrant remains in power.I've seen thousands of Zimbos rallying behind Mugabe in his famouse "Left Fist" adresses & they did not look as oppressed as we thought they were! The MDC was not stupid to withdraw from race cuz they knew that the Zanu-PF support was just too hot to handle.Despite the intimidation & violence, the Zimbabweans have spoken. - Les-Maada

      No sense

      BRILLIANT
    30/06/2008 08:38
That was awesome, it's all true. I hope you write more often, i don't even need to add more to this you pretty much summed it all up for eberyone because this is exactly what Africa is and how South Africa will be in about 5-10 years. Thanks - Danny

      So Sad
    30/06/2008 08:42
Mugabe and Mbeki have turned Southern Africa into a laughing stock. Call this debacle what you want but the rest of the world look at us and simply shake their collective heads. What a bunch of - dare I say it? Africans - Enough

      Dear President...
    30/06/2008 08:43
Thank you dear President Mbeki, for showing all South Africans, that our country is also ruled by despots and the power hungry elite, since we are the only country on the entire planet to side with Bob the Builder of Misery. You have sent us all a very powerful message, that the many friends we lost in the struggle - have died in vain. - Theki Mtish

      Ready?
    30/06/2008 08:44
Is Sefrica ready for the next 3 million Zims about to flood across our border? I'm so sick of hearing the entire world telling ole Bob what a naughty boy he is (they've been waving their fingers at the twit for eight years now). One despot, one bullet - problem solved. - Fluffybunny

      we should be ashamed
    30/06/2008 08:44
We as South Africans should be ashamed, because this happened on our watch. We are the most powerful nation on the African continent, yet we have let this dictator ruin a whole economy and displace millions of people right on our front doorstep. Although I acknowledge that our president has done a lot behind the scenes, the fact is that in the end he failed us and the people of our region. It also proved the incompetence of the African Union. It truly is a sad day. - konstabel

      Well written!!!
    30/06/2008 08:47
Congrats on a well written article. Another sad day in Africa... And the rest of the world watches as our so called democracy come tumbling down! - RicciRich

      DEGREES IN VIOLENCE
    30/06/2008 08:47
I think I have come up with a plausible reason for the mind set of Robert Gabriel. Brought up in the R. Catholic traditions at a mission school where canings and beatings were profound by a bunch of baby fiddling psycho's. These perps AKA "teachers" were sent to Africa where their deeds went un-noticed and unpunished. No wonder where R.G. learned to hate the white man and used the intricate intimidation tactics thereafter. I am familiar with RC schools methods. I was at one in Zim years ago. - Nguruve the Bushpig

It's 2008 for God's sake, get over the 'enslaving the sons of Africa' rubbish. Western countries belive it or not have an interest also in not seeing people starve to death and try and assist. Who else is going to care? You? Please.. - AJ

      Democracy not for africa
    30/06/2008 08:54
Bob has once again shown the world that AFRICA does not deserve the 21st century and that democracy does not fit in africa. Democracy for Africa is a barrel of a gun + intimidation. I feel sad that once again, our impotent leaders, are so afraid to speak their minds. Its not the people of africa who are cowards, its our current leaders - Nick

      Bravo
    30/06/2008 08:55
Well said Lucas, how can the rest of Africa turn on Mugabe when he helped so many of them. They will never dare to convict him, especially Mbeki. It is such a laugh. I had so many hopes for SADC and AU, but it just shows, it never changed! Mugabe..... The last of the Dictators... - Joe

      @ Kolobe
    30/06/2008 08:57
You are really dumb and ignorant at times. Mugabe and his forces caused the dictatorship in Zim - not any western force. The original western nominee for president was BISHOP ABEL MUZOREWA. Why did we accept western sanctions to speed up freedeom and transition in SA if it is so unacceptable? Until Africa provides an African solution to an African problem, the Africans must accept all the outside assistance as they can get. - Filemon

      Excellent!!!
    30/06/2008 08:57
Brilliant article!! I couldn't agree with you more!!! Africa is a wealthy continent that is being pillaged and raped instead of being cultivated and pruned! We are the answer to the poor and hungry... - ks

      @Kolobe
    30/06/2008 08:59
Sorry my friend but this is one debacle you cannot leave at the feet of the Western nations. This mess is Africa's own pure and simple from start to finish. No one has forced anyone's hand here. We as African nations have allowed these atrocities to happen. The first step to change is taking ownership of the problem. - May

It is again the European's fault. Always someone else ! - Jakob

      superb Lucas
    30/06/2008 09:06
awesomely written ....do you think you could pen something up that may help KOLOBE see the through his ignorance and to the future - foresighted

      Bob
    30/06/2008 09:07
Well is this not a surprise, bob goes from looser to outright winner in just one month. I must just add that these colonial, imperialistic, slave owning whitey's must now stop complaining, what did they ever bring to this continent, except, roads, rail, electricity, running water, schools, colleges universities, hospitals, democracy, freedom of speech, human rights, industries, mines what did they give us? nothing. - Craig

I know you are underlining the irony that is Bobs victory
    30/06/2008 09:08
but somehow it still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth because its so true and yet nothing was done about it, nor will anything happen in future. Its like watching a movie about a dictator like Stalin or Hitler and knowing that true to history, the story needs to unfold and that destruction will follow, no matter what. Why do we never learn from the past?Is it worth it to wait until it is too late? Our present leaders are as lame as those before them and those that come after them. - M

      kolobe
    30/06/2008 09:09
Kolobe, listen carefully. You point to past injustices to justify current ones. YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE SIDES. I think you jump to the defence of any black man simply because you feel stung by the criticism levelled against him because you are black too. Africa has wonderful potential. But black people need to stop defending the indefensible and taking sides just because of skin color. Hacking off someone's limbs is wrong, whether the year is 1808 or 2008. Colonialism was wrong. But so is Mugabe! - wit koos

      Satire of note
    30/06/2008 09:09
A good read from you Lucas, feel free to contribute regularly as it's a tonic. As for Les-Maada, you might want to read up the definition of propagoose and propaganda, if one hit you in the face you may not know which. And Kolobe, you are so one-eyed in your outlook and so entrenched in anti-imperialist dogma that you can't see the difference either. - Mukiwa

      confused little Bob...
    30/06/2008 09:10
I don't understand these okes.. They blame the west & Britian for everything and tell them to leave Zim alone. The west & Britian oblige and cut off all ties with Zim.. Then Zim complains that the west are sabotaging the country and they the reason for their downfall??? Clearly something missing between the ears Bob!! - Moses

      Very good
    30/06/2008 09:10
I'm glad such sattire is still alive south of the Limpopo. A pity that north of the limpopo it will be interpret as a support. What happened to snipers? - DJS

      @Kolobe
    30/06/2008 09:12
I'm sure you will be the first to run for cover (into exile in a nice 1st world country) when it hits your home. The true liberators were those that actually fought in the struggle, not the little lap dogs that ran and barked from the other side of the ocean. But please, leave "my Africa" alone while my people starve/kill each other and I get funded by some English billionaire who pays for my caviar and luxury apartment in London. - M

      I like your style Lucas!
    30/06/2008 09:13
I couldn't have put it all in a better sarcastic style myself.Kolobe, your head is as deep in the sand as Mbeki's chief.Don't either of you watch the news (or are all those horrifying pictures coming out of Zim all merely Western colonialist, imperialist propoganda as well)? - The Truth

      Sad and scary
    30/06/2008 09:14
Brilliant writing. What's happening in Zim is so sad, and the world seems powerless. Kolobe, you scare me! - Gerhard

      The people have spoken...
    30/06/2008 09:15
To all those idiots out there saying that the people could still have voted for the MDC or at least spoiled their vote, remember that most people were marched to the polling stations by the police or army - it's kinda difficult to vote against the man when there's a rifle pointed at your head!! - Rodders

One day there will be a realisation...
    30/06/2008 09:15
that free will and freedom of choice is the way forward for all human kind, regardless of race or nationality. It's just so sad that it could have happened sooner but due to the intellects that we're dealing with and governments having to make THE SAME mistakes over and over in order to learn,we are looking at further hardships!Congrats on destroying a once beautiful country with your greed Bob! - Ryan

Last point --> What is Africa & others going to DO???
    30/06/2008 09:16
Nothing. Only pity the poor Zimbos. African states? Worst case scenario, they will not recognise ZanuPF as illigitimate. Sanctions? What is left to sanction? Kolobe, why dont you emmigrate to Zim & then publish on this forum hoe wonderful life is in Zim? - Matrix

      @Les-Maada/Mare et al.
    30/06/2008 09:18
Its easy to say, don't vote for Mugabe, but when they burn down your house with your family inside you will sing another song. Oh how easy it is to criticize from your warm and safe house in SA. There should have been PEACE KEEPERS not useless AU "observers" (observing what? An undemocratic election?) ensuring peace and stability. Then the results would have again gone in favour of the MDC.But please leave Kolobe "his" Africa,he knows best - M

      Lucas for president
    30/06/2008 09:19
Well spoken my friend. We are all childfren of Africa and need to take hands to ensure that this Continent rises from the ashes and the rule of the gun. - Dan

      Filemon
    30/06/2008 09:19
Until Africa provides an African solution to an African problem????how can africa solve their own agendas when the west interfere?? We need africans to solve their own problems the western colonialists should solve their own problems...we dont see africans interfering in the western agendas therefore the same treatment should be given so us...to hell with the west and their enslaving agandas... - Kolobe

On day there will be a gross realisation....

You've got nerve to compare Vavi & Malema to Mugabe! The very Ppl who have openly condemned Bob & Lambasted Mbeki for befriending him. You're obviousely holding personal grudges against the two & that have unfortunately affected your thinking capacity. You're just spoiling such a nice piece with your cr@p & i suggest you refrain from feeding us your non- sense! - Les-Maada

      Well done........ Kolobe - WHATEVER!!
    30/06/2008 09:20
Well written article Lucas. It was great to read and very much true. It is sad but things was never going to different in Zimbabwe. I do agree that if Mugabe won by 80% a large portion of those voters was still valid. If at leas 20 - 30% was. It must be millions that still voted for him. And they should then take responsibilty for those votes and suffer. Kolobe. You are an idiot. The land and birth!! you sound like a low budget, b-great movie. Go tell it to someone that cares. Idiot. - Jaco

      Mugabe
    30/06/2008 09:21
Well written.Everyone is having a go at Mbeki.I agree he should have said more but at the end of the day words mean little. What else could/can he do? Invade Zim? Look how well that has worked out for the US in Iraq.Once a mediator takes sides,he ceases to be that (a mediator). The situation is tragic but the options to resove it are limited. - Robin

      its nothing new but...
    30/06/2008 09:23
all I want to know is when africa, especially ethnic africans, will stand up and so no to whats going on. I am not saying that no ethnic africans stand up and say no but it just seems to me that to be against Mugabe is to be with the westerners. I dont think that the west is right in the majority of its ways, but at the very least the advice on this particular subject is correct. I wish there was less pressure on the ethnic majority to conform to the thinking of minority decision makers..... - craig

      Another self made African tragedy
    30/06/2008 09:25
My heart sank as I witnessed the injustice of it all in Zim. I could not watch when Mugabe was sworn in, what a sham. Another sad chapter of African politics is continuing and the continent's leaders are relaxing. Till when will Africa be in a shameful state of this nature? Dark continent indeed this. Alas, Cry the beloved continent!! - TK

      Sad but true
    30/06/2008 09:25
All the rantings from certain members of the ANC & ANCYL, are starting to uncover the deep sentiments of our own country. I dread witnessing what happens in South Africa as soon as it one day becomes evident that another party may look like they will unseat the ANC. As much as I would pray it wouldn't happem, I strongly suspect we will see a very similar, but more frightening aspect than Zimbabwe. - Malcolm X

      @Zanoids
    30/06/2008 09:28
For all those who are pro-mugabe: All your talk of anti-imperialism is at odds with your claim for love of the african peoples. On the one hand you want to get rid of every last vestige of the colonial days and support guys like Mugabe who are hell-bent to do so, claiming that it is the best thing for africa and its people. On the other, you seem content to let the people be abused, raped, tortured and killed by politically-motivated starvation and denial of medication. Ideology above survival??? - Azi

      No prizes...
    30/06/2008 09:28
...for guessing whether AU meeting will endorse Uncle Bob's extention for his term in office. Mbeki is my worst disappointment in history, because he is engouraging all this stupidity, for lack of a stronger term. Great article Lucas, I could'nt agree with you more!! - Happy

      Brilliant !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    30/06/2008 09:29
Well said !!!!! What amazes me is that Mbeki (the colourless pygmy) still prances around telling everyone about the ?African Renaissance? and KNEEPAD and then backs Bob. The ?African Renaissance? is more like a step back into the ?Stone Age? .Why would anyone want to invest in Africa ???? Mandela?s silence is also deafening ; he could have said more at his 90th birthday bash.He has the influence and stature to do so . - lips

      Basket of Africa
    30/06/2008 09:30
Beautiful Eloquent article, a little bonkers perhaps, unless, of course you have food and water to stop your electrolytes you are lucky to have food and water to keep you stable and you really mean it... As it was said: Zimbabwe was the Bread Basket of Africa. Now it is the Basket Case of Africa. - tracey

      Eccellent satire
    30/06/2008 09:31
Lucas... that was brilliant. So glad to see that this form of critique has not died out. We should always remember that as long as there are still people that can think for themselves there is hope for Africa. - RobC

      Doing our job for us
    30/06/2008 09:36
I am not able to properly rationalise about the sovereignty of the nation to our north, but what I do understand is that it has been hijacked by a thief and murderer. The rhetoric about western colonial imperialists interfering with Africa is absurd. I believe they will eventually have to take action where we, by our inaction have failed our fellow African citizens. - Mark

      Bewildering.
    30/06/2008 09:36
I did not want to read your article because anything about this hideous blot on humanity makes me nauseous, but your have written superbly, exactly what I feel. I want to know why he is still referred to as President...surely he is not. Now, if the whole world stops writing about him, no photos, no invitations anywhere, complete silence.....don't you think that would get to him. He lives for basking in glory, however obtained. Just forget he ever existed. Wipe him from the newspapers, and T.V.s - Alicia

don't fall for the attention seeking comments made by Kolobe and the like. I'm sure that he's sitting up in his Ebony Tower contemplating whatever racists contemplate...he is a minority thinker.Be prepared for an internal coup as Bob's henchmen look for a new order,of that there is absolutely no doubt!let us look forward to a day where blame is replaced by pro-activity and aggression succeeded by empathy. Sadly, we may not witness this in our generation, but others have had to endure mu ch worse! - Ryan

Well then Kolobe... go and live in Zimbabwe if it's so fabulous. Go on, I dare you. - Lauren

      Yes Mugabe should go...
    30/06/2008 09:41
Clearly we are not happy with Robert Mugabe, yet the inferences of the western masters is perpetuating the violence and hindering progress in Zim, their continued gullible spewing of insults towards the monster in Mugabe is doing the mediation efforts difficult for president Mbeki, how can Mbeki solve a crisis when the fans(Britain and USA) and onlookers(UN) are fuelling the hatred and insulting the other party. - Kolobe

      Vote counting
    30/06/2008 09:41
Funny how in the first round of voting it took them MONTHS to count the votes, will for the 'runoff' eleections it took them 2 days. Then again, in a vote where there is one man on the ballet, it makes sense. Funny how he only got 85% of the votes. Someone should shoot that man. - Sinudeity

    30/06/2008 09:42
Why if you say africa doesnt need western help,do the leaders of africa stand on their knees whever a western leader gets here, africa does need help, because the only way they know how to solve problems is by the edge of a machete or the barrel of a gun, when they decide to stop killing each other, then maybe africa has a hope of becoming the continent that it can be. - proud to be white

      @ Kolobe
    30/06/2008 09:42
Kolobe, you must be Magabe's twin brother.... wake up and see how many black and white people work together to solve the problems on OUR(black/white) continent. Great article Lucas, although Mugabe will take all the praise in the article as a huge complment. Between him, Mbeki and Kolobe, they just don't get it. - JS

      Kolobe is a troll
    30/06/2008 09:47
Don't even waste your time with him... I can't believe that anyone with a brain could see to blame this on the West, whites, imperialists, colonialists, a third force... Kolobe all you are doing is highlighting every stereotype about Africans. - Yam

      Stand up
    30/06/2008 09:53
This beyond a joke. I'm not referring to the African dictator. I'm referring to the rest of the world (SA included) that condemn, chastise, berate, etc etc. All useless and meaningless to the African dictator. We need physical intervention: i.e. UN forces, US forces, military coups, invasions etc. You need to fight fire with fire. Otherwise, his own people must stand up. this is not about dialogue, it won't work. Zim needs war, otherwise it will wallow in it's own filth untill kingdom come. - Krantz

      Lancaster agreement
    30/06/2008 09:55
It is amazing that only when white farmers were removed from the farms in accordance to the terms of the Lancaster agreement then colonial imperialist showed their disdain against Pre. Mugabe, clearly the west have not met their contractual Lancaster agreement therefore Mugabe should remove them?the west are carrying out their own agendas?the Zimbabwean saga should be looked upon holistically, not just the economic meltdown... - Kolobe

Is this letter going to help the situation in Zim?
    30/06/2008 09:56
Good article there Lucas? But how is your letter going to help the situation in Zimbabwe or you are just after the R1000 for the most read letter in News24? Ag please get really! Zim people need solution not letters which have no direct affect to their situation. Is Morgan of the MDC an answer to the Zim people's situation? I don't think so! The man is a coward he betrayed his people. This time Mugane didn't steal election but it was given to him with a silver plate by the MDC leader. - Vic

      Kolobe & Co. part 1
    30/06/2008 10:24
It is with great sadness that I read your comments, as you can not see the utter shambles this beautiful continent, that I call home, is in. leave it to africans... yes, agree, but they generally do not have the power to help themselves, unless it is to the detriment of others around them. A simple issue of land reform; taking experienced commercial farmers off their land and replacing them with "farmers" who are subsistence farmes, and we wonder why we have a food crises??!! See my brother... - Hobbs

      Kolobe - Lancaster Agreement
    30/06/2008 10:26
How stupid can you be? Please stop embarressing yourself. You have a mentality of a brick. The Lancaster Agreement has been explained to you before, but you just dont seem to have the capability to understand it. Africans have to take responsibility for their own actions. Stop giving the West so much power over Africa. - dhv

      Congratulations Mr President

Well said Lucas. But who do I send the medical bill to after rupturing my hernia again from too much laughter? A pity we don't see more articles like this. - Robert Kay

      Kolobe & Co. Part 2
    30/06/2008 10:27
The West has already made the mistakes, thousands of years ago, we are still learning. Learership and teachers are what we need, people to listen, understand and implement! Do you think that Bob could listen? doubt it, he is nothing but a naughty school bully, who you can not rely on anything for, except chaos! - Hobbs

Your comments are great. I loved the satire. Sad that the problem is so real. Kolobe you are a rabid racist. Bob made this problem and he will eventually pay for it dearly. Leave the democracies out of it. - Malcolm

      Lucas & Kolobe
    30/06/2008 10:41
Lucas - I wish you could become a political advisor. Bravo! Kolobe, wake up and smell Africa burning... If we all keep on blaming the past there will never be solutions for the future. Nobody would have worried about Zim if innocent people were not suffering under a brutal regime...Would
