I have been in a Metal band for 16 years now... STILL kicking it and doing well AND I am also a proud parent. Blame an artform for this attack is beyond me. I am quite capable to see a behaviour change in my child with regards to my actions as a parent. She is wonderfull and YES I do consider myself a GREAT DAD, BUT for the media to slam metal in this sense is truly arrogant and LAME, EVERYTHING on this earth is what we make of it. Notwithstanding the satan aspect, the parents and teachers should have picked up the behavioural changes of the child- such a change does not happen overnight. To blame music, 'evil' or not is also lame. How many other children and grown up listen to heavy metal and do not go on killing sprees. If it was found out that he watched the Gummi Bears, would they also be to blame? The problem lies with the individual. However this somewhat teaches us a lesson as the nation , as communities and as parents. The lesson that we will take from this is that we should look after our children. I believe the attack happened because students do not get any assistance on dealing with pressure(stress, but i dont like to call it that). It seems everyone missed the fact that he was about to start writing exams, and having been trough this already these may have seemed to him as his biggest task yet. Everyone who has done matric know that these exams are stressed to the point that you may start believing if you do not pass your life is over!! Total rubbish.

Once again christians are right and everbody else is wrong i see. Exactly why i stopped going to church and read my bible at home rather. All I can say: "Father have mercy on us!". You cannot be half pregnant. You either worshop Jesus our King or the prince of darkness. We are living in a broken world and with opinions like the one of Ernst Geyser how can children not be affected. Demon possesion is as old as the world. Well said. The real culprit here is DOE, teachers and parents. Since religion was taken out of school all wrong perspectives of the religion was born. To Im Christian, boet you must realy educate yourself further and not just believe what you are taught. You are right, but read up more on satanism. Know your enemy. You might get a reality check. Only the boy knows and i dont think that we as a society can deny the fact that God exists any more than we can deny that satan exists...the proof is in the pudding and a boy was murdered...but as the bible says "every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord" so there will come a time when we all acknowledge God for now though looks like ignorance is bliss to most... - Kez |

Nice to get a new perspective on the idea of Satanism as a religion, Its taught me something! As a Pagan, I find we are often confused with Satanists by the god squad, even though we believe in the idea of: 'an harm ye none, do as ye will'. Its funny you?re being accused of being brainwashed, when the accusers actually sound like they?ve been brainwashed by the church!
