Athens - The IOC announced on Wednesday it would take no action against Greek sprinters Kostadinos Kenteris and Ekaterini Thanou for missing three mandatory drugs tests and referred the cases to world athletics governing body, the IAAF.

An IOC spokesperson said the decision was taken because the two had already pulled out of the Olympics prior to the start of competition.

"The IOC's sanction of expulsion from the Games becomes a moot point," said the spokesperson.

The IOC have also asked the IAAF to take action including possible sanctions against their coach Christos Tzekos.

The IOC warned that if the two athletes and Tzekos appear in any further edition of the Games they will be subjected to a new procedure in front of the IOC.
