Radcliffe to run in 10 000m
Athens - British marathon flop Paula Radcliffe will run the Olympic 10 000m final on Friday, British athletics team officials said.
"Paula has decided to run the 10 000m," a British athletics team spokesperson said. "We just need to leave her now to prepare herself for the race."
Radcliffe, 30, was on the entry list but had indicated she might withdraw after her nightmare marathon run on Sunday, when she ground to a standstill after 35km and broke down in tears.
Physically she is believed to be in perfect shape.
British Olympic Association chairperson Craig Reedie had indicated he would like to see Radcliffe try again in the 10 000.
"If she feels up to it, I would hope she runs and she performs to the very, very high level that she normally does," Reedie told BBC Radio Five Live.
