Russian runner fails drugs test
Athens - Russian 400m runner Anton Galkin has been flung out of the Olympics for failing a drugs test, the International Olympic Committee announced on Friday.
The 25-year-old Galkin tested positive for an anabolic steroid after finishing fourth in his semi-final on August 21. He failed to qualify for the final.
Galkin is the 21st competitor to be sanctioned for drug related offences during the Athens Olympics.
In athletics these include two Olympic champions - Robert Fazekas of Hungary in the men's discus and Irina Korzhanenko of Russia in the women's shot put and a high-jumper from Belarus.
