London - Russia's Yelena Isinbayeva broke her own world pole vault record on Friday, clearing 4.90m at the London Grand Prix meet at Crystal Palace.

Isinbayeva added a centimetre to the 4.89m record she set five days ago in Birmingham, England.

It's the fourth time in five weeks the women's world pole vault record has been broken.

Another Russian, Svetlana Feofanova, set the previous record of 4.88m in Iraklion, Greece on July 4. That height broke the previous mark of 4.87m set on June 27 by Isinbayeva in Gateshead, England.

Feofanova, Isinbayeva and American Stacy Dragila have been taking turns breaking world indoor and outdoor marks in the pole vault the last couple of years - and all three will be vying for medals at the Athens Olympics in August.

Hestrie Cloete of South Africa won the women's high jump when she equalled her best height of the year clearing the bar on 2.03m with Vita Styopina of the Ukraine second with a height of 1.97 and Amy Acuffof the US third on 1.97
