Van Dyk through to finals
Athens - Ernst van Dyk qualified for the 5 000m and 400m Paralympic wheelchair racing finals on Wednesday morning.
Van Dyk finished fourth in the 5 000m heat and then, after a short rest, second in his 400m heat.
"I'm still feeling a little heavy from the 5 000m, but I should be all right for the final," said Van Dyk.
"It was a little difficult since I hard to start in lane one and you have to go full speed ahead in the lane."
Krige Schabort did not qualify for the 5 000m, finishing fifth in his heat, but Scott Field, who has two silver medals in the pool already at these Games, takes the fastest time into this afternoon's 100m freestyle final for the visually impaired.
Fani Lombaard, the single leg amputee is expected to take gold in the discus on Wednesday night.
Teboho Mokgaladi broke the world record in the 100m for athletes with cerebral palsy and is expected to bring home a medal from the race, also on Wednesday night.
