Not all smiles for b/bash

Cape Town - It seems not everyone is happy with their sought after invitations to various birthday bashes for Madiba's 90th on Friday.
Congress of SA Trade Unions (Cosatu) Western Cape secretary Tony Ehrenreich on Thursday summarily rejected his exclusive "by invitation only" invite to a party hosted by the SABC and Correctional Services in Paarl.
Ehrenreich said former president Nelson Mandela "signifies everything that is inclusive, unifying and empowering".
He and Cosatu refused to be party to a "celebration for the elite, elect and chosen ones, when our members are not also free to come".
"This 'celebration' is an excuse for the elite to get together and pat each other on the back and consider how well they've done! This, while our people are still unemployed and starving," he lamented.

And in Pretoria, African Christian Democratic Party councillor Richard Dinkelman was disappointed in the way the ACDP got its invite to the Tshwane Metro's bash in honour of Madiba.
"The ACDP of the Tshwane Metro is not happy to, once again, receive an invitation one day before the event," he said.
This was not the first time that an invitation to a function arrived a day before the time.
Dinkelman was particularly perturbed that the Fifa World Cup logo was on the invitation.
"How will this poor planning on the part of the municipality reflect on the organising of the Fifa World here in 2010?" he asked.
Sadly, he would not attend the function.
"Make no mistake we would love to attend this special celebration but have prior commitments that we cannot cancel at such late notice."
