Johannesburg - Revellers at the opening of Johannesburg's newest trendy nightclub, Kilimanjaro, stumbled and fell and stumbled again as if the club had been flooded by an oil slick.
Party animals, most of them women, hit the deck mostly on the slippery wooden floor of the winding ramp that connects the ground floor and the first floor.
Basetsana Khumalo, the former Miss South Africa and wife to SABC 1 general manager Romeo Khumalo, is also said to have tripped and hit the ground while shooting scenes for Top Billing.
According to sources, she was forced to stop the filming as she was writhing in pain.
"Among the people I saw falling was Basetsana, who seemed to have injured her knees and ankles.
"She could not continue with the shooting of the scenes and later left, probably to receive medical attention," said the source.
In a laid back response peppered with streetwise language, Basetsana denied ever biting the dust.
Laughing heartily, she said she was taken aback that she had been confused with those who had fallen - much to their embarassment and the delight of some mischievous onlookers.
"I saw some people falling all over the place but I didn't know any of them.
"It beats me as to how I was mistaken for those who fell down.
"I am in a healthy condition and you can come to my workplace and see for yourself," said Basetsana.
She also dismissed rumours doing the rounds that she was unable to attend the wedding of high flyer Happy Khumalo last week because she was nursing the injury.
