Cape Town - Prominent Afrikaans singer, Ralph Rabie, better known as Johannes Kerkorrel was laid to rest at the Kleinmond cemetery in the Western Cape, SABC Radio news reported on Saturday.
Kerkorrel's body was found hanging from a tree at Bot River near Kleinmond on Tuesday, after he apparently committed suicide.
Earlier, close friends and family members attended a private funeral service at the Pinkster Protestant Church in Kleinmond.
Kerkorrel sprang to prominence in the eighties with a series of cabaret acts and was one of the first Afrikaans musicians to openly rebel against the apartheid government.
