Witbank - Mpumalanga police arrested a suspected cop killer after a shoot-out with him and his cronies in a tavern in Vosman, near Witbank, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The suspect was hit in the buttocks while fleeing in a hail of bullets at about 01:00.

His friends got away.

Highveld police spokesperson Inspector Jacky Nkoana said the suspect, who is about 25 years old, is under police guard in hospital.

A Z-88 pistol found in his possession will be sent to Pretoria for ballistic tests.

The suspect is wanted for the murder of a policeman, as well as for a string of armed robberies and possession of unlicensed firearms. - African Eye News Service
