Pretoria - Education Minister Kader Asmal will release a report on the rapid escalation of the cost of education in Pretoria on Monday.

Asmal received a report on the matter in January and has finished studying its recommendations.

The report was the result of an investigation ordered by the minister to probe public concern regarding the exclusion of children from schools on account of non-payment of fees, the cost of transport and the inability of parents to purchase prescribed school uniforms.

The education ministry said last month the report had allowed the department to assess the extent of the pressures related to the financing, costs and resourcing of education, and to identify the factors that were contributing to present trends.
