Thabong - The bodies of four boys, aged between four and 10, were found behind Goldfields Regional Hospital in Thabong in the Free State on Sunday afternoon, police said.
Inspector Stephen Thakeng said two of the boys were found with their hands and feet tied up, and both had stab wounds. The two others had no visible injuries.
Police believed the four boys might been killed at an unknown place and their bodies dumped between trees behind the hospital.
The bodies were found by children who went to fetch wood in a veld between Riebeeckstad power station and the hospital, Thakeng said.
He said the children then reported the incident to the police.
Two of the boys were wearing khaki trousers and green t-shirts. They were not wearing shoes. The other two were wearing blue t-shirts and trousers, and were also not wearing shoes.
Thakeng said a stationwagon was seen at the scene of the crime, but its number plates were not known. It had already left when police arrived at the scene.
A reward of up to R20 000 is being offered for any information that can assist the police in their investigations. Anyone with information can contact Inspector Elias Tswabole on 083 998 5030.
