Stolen cars found within 30 mins

Johannesburg - Police in Benoni on the East Rand recovered three cars on Tuesday evening within 30 minutes after they were stolen from the same house.

Captain Sophie Mayisela said police received a report of an armed robbery at a house at 19:30.

When they arrived the owner of the house told them that he had been entertaining guests when they were confronted by eight armed men.

The gunmen robbed him and his guests of three cars - two BMWs and a Mercedes Benz - along with some household goods. They attackers fled without firing any shots.

The police sent out an alert for other patrols in the area to be on the lookout for the three cars. All three were found abandoned within 30 minutes in different areas in Wattville outside Benoni, said Mayisela.

No arrests were made, said Mayisela, adding the stolen goods were not recovered.
