pretoria - A Laudium home-owner killed a man who came into his yard and shot at him on Thursday evening, Pretoria police reported on Friday.
The gunman apparently drove up and down Taj Street in a silver Volkswagen Golf about 21:30, before stopping at the house, said police spokesman Inspector Percy Morokane.
"He got out of the car, gun in hand, and entered the property. As the owner opened the front door, the man fired a shot."
The home owner took cover and shot back, hitting his attacker once in the face.
When police arrived, the Golf was found idling outside.
The motive for the attack was not known.
Morokane said the gun used by the attacker was reported stolen in 1993. The Golf had been registered to a non-existent address.
