Johannesburg - A father, son and three youths appeared in the Johannesburg High Court on Thursday for the murder and robbery of an elderly couple in Meredale, Johannesburg last year.
Monica and Laurence Mustoe were robbed, tied up and stabbed to death on May 8 last year.
Franklin Lincoln Brownley, Theoniel Pieters, Earl Schoeman and Ishmael Ely - all of Eldorado Park - pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and aggravated robbery.
The fifth accused, Brownley's father Lincoln Milton Fobbay also pleaded not guilty. He was charged only with theft and defeating the ends of justice.
Monica, 73, and Laurence, 69, were tied to chairs in separate rooms, gagged and stabbed when robbers ransacked their home on May 8.
Brownley, Pieters and Schoeman were in matric when the murders took place.
The prosecution has alleged that the murders were well known to the elderly couple and were welcomed into their home on the day they died.
Their motor vehicle and household goods, including two television sets, were stolen.
The trial continues on Friday.
