Bakkie, bus in horror crash

Pretoria - The driver of a bakkie was killed and several bus passengers injured when the bakkie and a Putco bus collided in Pretoria on Monday, police said on Tuesday.
Inspector Percy Morokane said the bus was travelling on Moloto Road - which he said was "notorious" for fatal accidents - when it collided with the bakkie about 17:30.
The driver of the bus apparently heard a noise coming from the right front wheel and lost control of the vehicle.
The bus, which was carrying 40 passengers, collided with the bakkie and overturned in a ditch.
The driver of the bakkie, J Strydom, 55, died on the road and the injured bus passengers were taken to several hospitals in Pretoria.
Morokane said the Putco bus driver was not injured.
A culpable homicide case was being investigated, Morokane said.
