Attempted hijacking: Woman shot dead

Cape Town - A woman was shot dead in an attempted hijacking of a pensions vehicle in Guguletu, Cape Town on Tuesday, Western Cape police reported.
Spokesperson Superintendent Nina Kirsten said the woman was driving an All Pay pension vehicle in NY1, Guguletu, about 06:30 when the occupants of two vehicles, a bakkie and a red Hyundai, tried to force her off the road.
Several shots were fired at the female driver, hitting her in the head. She died instantly.
The would-be hijackers drove off empty-handed in the bakkie as the All Pay vehicle was only transporting machinery.
They left behind the red Hyundai, which was apparently hijacked on Monday.
