Pretoria - An NG dominee who took part in sex orgies with boys in the vicarage seems to have been forgiven.

Members of the Derdepoort, Pretoria congregation of the NG Kerk have been invited to a formal tea and cake farewell for him.

Deon Landman, 36, a former minister of the congregation, has to vacate the church residence by the end of the month after the church council accepted his resignation.

Landman was earlier found guilty in the Pretoria regional court on three charges of indecent assault of boys aged 13, 14, and 15.

Magistrate George Krause found that Landman fondled and masturbated the boys and had oral sex with them.

The court also heard that the church council reprimanded Landman on four occasions about the regular presence of boys at his home and for neglecting his duties in the congregation.

He was suspended from his duties for two years pending the outcome of the hearing.
