Men held for 12 000 fake DVDs

Johannesburg - Two men appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court on Thursday after 12 484 counterfeit digital video discs worth over R6m were seized at Johannesburg International Airport, police said.
Captain Velephi Mayisela said the men were arrested at the airport on Wednesday.
They will be charged under the Counterfeit Goods Act, They were not asked to plead and were released on bail pending further investigations in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Fred Potgieter, managing director of the South African Federation Against Copyright Theft (Safact), told Sapa on Thursday: "The product all came from Malaysia and the sender was Intrend Living, 5 Jalan BK, Kinrara Industrial Park, Kuala Lumpur."
"A further 13 075 DVDs were intercepted at Cape Town International airport and in total more than 25 000 DVDs have been seized," Potgieter said.
Mayisela said the DVDs were taken to a government bonded warehouse for safe-keeping.
Included among the titles were 2 500 copies of Terminator 3, 1 400 of Dumb and Dumber, 400 copies of Charlie's Angels and a number of Harry Potter discs. Other titles were Lord of the Rings, Matrix and Mission Impossible.
