Child dies as bakkie overturns

Bethlehem - A two-year-old girl died instantly and five people, including her mother, sustained serious injuries when a driver allegedly lost control of his bakkie while trying to overtake a truck near Reitz in the eastern Free State on Thursday, police said on Friday.
Constable Christopher Mophiring said the bakkie overturned and Palesa Mofokeng, 2, of Mamafubedu near Petrus Steyn, died instantly.
Her mother and four men including the driver sustained serious injuries.
They were taken to the Reitz and Bethlehem hospitals where their condition was not known.
Police were investigating a case of culpable homicide.
