Polokwane - A Limpopo teenager was shot dead and his friend injured for singing too loudly on Saturday night.
Prince Mojapelo, 16, and his 17-year-old friend were members of a choir that had been invited to sing at a bar in Maboi village near Polokwane.
"Three heavily drunk men arrived at about 23:00 and accused the choir of singing too loudly," said Central police spokesperson, Captain Mohale Ramatseba on Monday.
The men demanded to listen to pre-recorded music instead of a live choir and one of them drew a 9mm pistol and fired at the singers.
A bullet hit Mojapelo in the chest, killing him instantly, while another bullet grazed a 17-year-old boy's ear.
He was treated at Mankweng hospital and released on Sunday morning.
Two suspects have been arrested and are expected to appear before the Mankweng magistrate's court soon.
