Johannesburg - A 48-year-old man was arrested on Monday after he allegedly stole equipment valued at R1.8m from television personality Dali Tambo's Saxonwold offices at the weekend, police said.
Captain Mashadi Selepi said the man allegedly stole two Adid computers, a computer drive, fax machines, speakers and keyboards.
There was no evidence of forced entry into the premises, Selepi said.
Meanwhile, Tambo offered a reward for any information leading to the retrieval of the stolen equipment, which contains data on a 13-part documentary on the history of South Africa's political parties.
The documentary is to be broadcast on SABC2 and will be distributed internationally to coincide with the 10 years of freedom celebrations in 2004.
"I am appealing to whoever took the computers that they understand the information on those drives represents a year's work on the project and should they be returned, we will not ask any questions.
"We will offer a reward," Tambo said.
