Rapist forces woman to cook

Johannesburg - An elderly woman from Ruimsig on the West Rand has spent a night in a hole after fleeing from her rapist who forced her to prepare a meal for him afterwards.

A jogger heard the 77-year-old's calls for help the next morning and came to her rescue.

Police Superintendent Milica Bezuidenhout said the woman, who lived alone, was watching television at about 20:00 on Saturday evening when an unknown man entered her house through the open front door.

The man, who wasn't armed, took her to the bedroom and ordered her to undress.

Although she managed to escape to the bathroom, her attacker broke the door down and dragged her back to the room where he raped her several times, Bezuidenhout said. After the man had raped the woman, he ordered her to prepare food for him.

Bezuidenhout said the woman escaped while she was cooking. She fell into the hole as she was trying to get away.

She was admitted to the Garden City Clinic.

Bezuidenhout said the suspect made off with goods worth R10 000.
