Police rescue robbers

Johannesburg - A suspected robber was stabbed to death and two others beaten while allegedly trying to rob residents in Vosloorus on Sunday morning, East Rand police said.
Superintendent Andy Pieke said four men armed with a shotgun allegedly went knocking on doors in Extension 14.
A resident in the area allegedly stabbed one of the men who apparently wanted to enter his house. The resident then called on his neighbours for help.
Pieke said the two other suspects were attacked. The fourth man fled the scene.
He said police arrived at the scene and rescued the men, two of whom were severely assaulted.
The two other suspects are under police guard at the Rand Clinic.
Police seized an unlicensed shotgun. They also arrested the resident who allegedly stabbed one of the men.
The resident faces a charge of murder.
