Johannesburg - The 6 000-member Transvaal Agricultural Union (TAU) on Monday denied involvement in any activities of the Boeremag terrorist organisation.
"TAU SA is a national a-political and agriculturally driven organisation, which will continue to protect its members? interests legally. TAU SA is focused on the sustainability of the commercial farmer in South Africa," the organisation said in a statement.
On Friday, state witness Johannes Smit testified that the TAU was involved in a planned Boeremag coup d'etat, reports say.
At a meeting in Centurion, Pretoria, in August 2001, TAU representatives and alleged coup plot leaders discussed in detail the blueprint for a planned take-over, Smit reportedly alleged.
The TAU on Monday refuted the allegations made in the Supreme Court in Pretoria.
The TAU said its congress - the highest policy making body- the general council, or the executive committee have ever taken any decision to involve itself in unconstitutional activities.
