Durban - A man has been jailed by the Durban High Court in connection with the 1999 murder of Prince Cyril Zulu.
Phumlani Shazi, 35, was on Monday sentenced to 25 years imprisonment.
He was convicted of murder and robbery on Friday.
Zulu, 35, was gunned down outside his house in Lamontville, south of Durban, on November 2 1999.
Police spokesperson Vishnu Naidoo said Shazi was on the run from 1999 and was arrested by the Durban Serious and Violent Crime Unit at Tsakane, Springs, on November 28.
Four other men were arrested 18 months after the incident following intensive investigations, Naidoo said.
Two of the men turned State witnesses while the other two were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.
Zulu had been the chair of the ANC-aligned KwaZulu-Natal Hostel Residents Association, and deputy chair of the KwaZulu-Natal local government association.
His death was suspected to have been politically motivated.
Zulu broke the royal tradition of supporting the IFP to become the only ANC card-carrying member of his branch of the Zulu royal family.
