Johannesburg - The Kruger National Park ranger who was attacked by a leopard in Mpumalanga last week will be spending Christmas at home with his family, SA National Parks (SANParks) said on Monday.
Forty-year-old Bruce Leslie was admitted to a private hospital after the attack at Malelane, east of Nelspruit.
SANParks spokesperson Raymond Travers said Leslie had had surgery on a crushed finger bone and had been kept in hospital for observation. He would be discharged on Monday or Tuesday.
Leslie went to investigate reports that the leopard was troubling people, and it lunged at him. He shoved his left hand into the leopard's mouth and shot it with a gun which he held in his right hand.
All his wounds were healing satisfactorily.
