Umtata - Moments after reaching their destination after the long journey from Johannesburg to the Transkei region, five people died instantly when a minibus taxi in which they were travelling overturned, police reported.
The accident took place in Engcobo, Umtata, at 01:00 on Wednesday, Superintendent Nondumiso Jafta said.
The driver apparently lost control as the vehicle was approaching a curve.
The taxi was apparently travelling from Johannesburg to Engcobo. An unknown number of passengers were taken to hospital, said Jafta.
