Johannesburg - West Rand police have arrested two men, believed to be in their 30s, following the murder of a Roodepoort pub owner, a policeman and a former policeman after midnight on Sunday at a bachelor's party.

Police spokesperson Paula Nothnagel said two other men sustained serious injuries in the shooting, at Lion's Pub on Ontdekkers Road, Roodepoort, which was owned by Simon Antoine Pretorius, 43.

The slain policeman has been identified as 30-year-old Inspector Julian Dry.

He was stationed at the Crime Prevention Unit in Randfontein. The former policeman was identified as Richus Liebenberg, 32.

The three died at the scene.

A police report said two men who had been removed from the premises earlier in the night had returned and fired on patrons.

The critically injured patrons are Frikkie Schutte, who was shot in the back, and Mark de Mata, who was shot three times in the side.

They are in a serious but stable conditions in hospital, Nothnagel said.
