JOhannesburg - A man has been killed by an elephant in Addo National Park in the Eastern Cape, the SABC reported on Monday.

South African National Parks said Monde Ngxwashula of Paterson was apparently trespassing in the reserve and was collecting prickly pears when he was attacked by a female elephant.

His body was found among trampled vegetation during a routine fence patrol.

Addo Park manager Lucius Moolman warned the public against entering the reserve on foot.
