Cape Town - The funeral of pop diva Brenda Fassie has been moved to Saturday to allow President Thabo Mbeki to attend. It was originally scheduled for Sunday.
The funeral was rescheduled at the request of Mbeki's office, said Peter Snyman, Fassie's manager.
The "Princess of Africa" Yvonne Chaka Chaka is the guest of honour, while 19-year-old Bongani Fassie, Brenda's son, will pay tribute to his mother.
Fassie died at the age of 39 two weeks ago in Sunninghill Clinic in Sandton. She was in a coma for more than a week. Star 'exploited'
Meanwhile, accusations are flying back and forth between Snyman and Sello "Chicco" Twala, Fassie's producer, about the artist's financial affairs.
Apparently, the Fassie family is accusing both men of financially exploiting the star. Twala is blaming Snyman.
Fassie apparently earned about R6m in royalties between 1996 and 2002.
Snyman said on Wednesday an independent attorney has been appointed to look after Bongani's interests and to take care of Fassie's financial affairs.
Funeral proceedings start on Saturday morning at 09:00 at Langa Stadium, and Fassie's remains will be taken to a private venue for cremation.
