Cape Town - The Scorpions have arrested three people in connection with the recruiting of mercenaries on Wednesday.

Scorpions spokesperson Sipho Ngwema told News24 the elite investigative unit raided the offices of International Intelligence Risk Management in Parow about 12:00 on Wednesday.

A house in Durbanville was raided at the same time.

Ngwema said the three people were arrested for questioning in connection with the alleged recruitment of hundreds of South African as mercenaries, which is illegal under the Foreign Military Assistance Act.

He said the raid was part of an ongoing investigation.
