Perlemoen worth R1.5m seized

Bloemfontein - Free State police have confiscated two tons of perlemoen and arrested two people for transporting it illegally.
Spokesperson Captain Rosa Benade said police became suspicious of a Mercedes-Benz truck travelling on the N1 between Kroonstad and Ventersburg and stopped it.
When the back of the vehicle was opened police found two tons of perlemoen, estimated to be worth about R1.5m.
Benade said the perlemoen hails from Cape Town and was on its way to Johannesburg.
The two suspects would appear in the Kroonstad magistrate's court on Friday.
